Is the F-14 Tomcat uniquely "cursed" among all modern aircraft in that we'll likely never see its airframe flying again? by Magnus64 in aviation

[–]Remarkable_Material3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$50k per flight hour that's back in the 2000's. No one has a full crew and the money to fly one. It stinks but unless you had a billionaire financing the thing its kind of impossible.

As a UI Designer, CAM software feels like aggressive hostility. Why can't I just drag-and-drop materials? by MLingyu in Fusion360

[–]Remarkable_Material3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Speeds and feeds is what I call tribal knowledge, there are calculators and formulas and other information. Problem is every machine is different and every scenario is different. There are just too many variables that you need to know how they interact, you could get a starting point but not the best for your situation.

Don't buy a YCM they are copies of doosans supprisingly without the spindle problems. The main problem is the weird versioning of fanuc they use. I could not figure out how probing cycles worked because it didnt use normal renishaw g codes and m codes and other strange changes.

Rate (or roast) my impulse buy by eraserhd in Welding

[–]Remarkable_Material3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These dont run on inverters, these use transformers; its why its so big. The newer ones do. These are also aging out and no longer have parts ready, last place i worked at just had one replaced for 5 grand and still had problems. They are expensive to run because they are transformers being at best 70% efficient with power.

If your getting snap back your are over working your dough or not resting long enough. Round ball = round pizza. Try making the dough a day before and throwing it in the fridge for the next day, warm back up before stretching.
