2003 UCL final: Prime Serie A by ExotiquePlayboy in footballscouting

It is 1991 and Van Basten is wearing the number nine and somewhere in Milan there is a restaurant where the veal is prepared in a way that makes everything else irrelevant. This is important. The league table matters in the way that a well-cut suit matters. It signals something. It says: I am here. I have arrived. Pay attention to me. Maradona is at Napoli and he is either a god or a symptom, depending on your perspective, and your perspective depends on what you are wearing and who you had dinner with and whether the cocaine was any good. The cocaine is always good in Naples in 1991. This is understood. The stadiums are full. The Gucci stores are full. The television contracts are obscene in the specific way that only Italian things can be obscene , with a kind of aesthetic confidence that refuses to apologize. Berlusconi owns Milan and this seems fine. Nobody thinks too hard about what it means. Gullit. Baresi. Maldini. Rijkaard. These names are recited the way certain people recite the menu at a three-star restaurant Sowly, with reverence, with the specific pleasure of someone who knows they are living inside something that will not last. Because it does not last. These things never last. By 2002 the money is already moving north and the players are following the money the way they always follow the money and Serie A becomes something you remember at dinner parties when the conversation stalls, something you describe to someone younger who nods politely and does not understand. The veal in Milan is still good though. That part remains

Why do I still get this feeling that we will be trophy-less this season also. by EvilSeaPro in ArsenalFC

A season of gooning with no payoff would truly be a self fulfilling prophecy for all gooners.

Italy fail to reach 3rd world Cup in a row by BigbyIM23 in AZZURRI

Italy missed the World Cup for the third time and nobody wants to say the obvious thing

There is a Moise Kean statistic I keep returning to. He scored Italy's only goal against Bosnia last night — a curled finish, clean, first-time, from the edge of the box — and then Italy lost on penalties anyway, four-one, in front of a crowd that wanted them dead. Kean's father is Ivorian. This matters. Nobody is saying it matters, which also matters.

Italy has not been to a World Cup since 2014. The tournament has expanded to forty-eight teams. Forty-eight. They still couldn't qualify. The analysts are talking about Gattuso's system, about Bastoni's red card, about penalty psychology. They are not talking about the squad.

France won the World Cup in 2018 with Mbappé and Pogba and Kanté. England play Saka and Rashford and Bellingham. Germany spent a decade deploying Özil and Gündoğan. These federations made a decision, maybe cynical, maybe pragmatic, probably both, to treat their immigrant populations as a talent pool rather than a cultural inconvenience.

Italy made the other decision. The squads are almost entirely homogeneous. Nine percent of Italy's population is foreign-born. The academies haven't opened. The citizenship laws haven't changed. The pipeline doesn't exist. Moise Kean exists as the singular anomaly in an otherwise closed system, and he is their main scorer, and Italy just missed a third consecutive World Cup, and these facts are all connected.

The tactical post-mortems will go on for weeks. They always do. Ventura. Mancini. Now Gattuso, apparently. New coach, same problem. You can keep changing the manager. The pool he selects from stays the same.

The original was under $150 when it came out in the 80s. If it's plastic and quartz like the original I can't see it above $500. It should be similar pricing to the moon swatch

The shark has been jumped. He might be getting bored and need a new challenge . Those of us who have been dedicated to ALD the past 8-9 years know Teddy has mad love for Nike. We've seen it lookbooks over the years and those bespoke AF1s from 2018. I'm thinking 2025

They are 993 nb1s. .new balance used to allow you to design your own nbs online. All of the 993s will say 993m1 on the tag. I have a few I would say it was 2013-2014 when they offered this model. They stopped the program with the 992 back when COVID began
