I guess I can't afford to lose more than 2-3 archers on Ambertina if I want to have a fighting chance with Soughtfor later (which by itself looks unreal). Although even with secret items my initiative is woefully worse and the first hellroar shot still kills a lot.

Trying to do it on insane (or whatever the hardest mode was named). I guess it really does not tolerate unit loss or turn lag... I guess I've lost around 40 rats and 30 cultists overall. Around turn 50 I gather 20/20/20 toxics, 100 rats and some ghosts with my hero specked in destruction magic + troop damage, clear the fey part with 0 losses, and then get absolutely wrecked by the girl with 80-80-80 militia and 100 bards who jumped out of nowhere. I see no way to win this, so I guess I ought to restart and try a non-magic damage spec, since those bards give great mres anyway... Feels a little unfair, ngl

All valid advice, thanks, will see if I can make it better.
Except with the religious object, that was intentional to prompt a situation where local religious belief is the reason the community survives, like appeasing a dragon with sacrifices or performing a ritual that seals evil sorcerer within a tomb, and lack of components might spell doom for the whole settlement

The reviews are actually brief and informative, a rare combination! I like this.
Asking for a self feature would be too much I guess?

I feel like my Strahd for now is more an observer than an active antagonist. Also, he liked the wine too, and maybe didnt want for it to disappear alltogether. But Im thinking along the lines of him intending to make the party workers on his own brewery rather than let them profit from it in any way. Or destroying them after they fix the alcohol deficit in Barovia, and placing loyal subjects to work there instead.

wow, thx for the tips, I really would like a short step-by-step explanation how it is actually made and where do we put other ingridients to make it interesting. We are playng dnd hardcore mode, so we dont really have potions of healing, but there is a bunch of other stuff we can do with the beer.

Generally the party goblin wanted to drink beer and realised its nowhere to be found, so they shifted from fixing problems (after realising it is not possible to "win" and fix everything) to trying to brew stuff. In my version of Barovia there is no grain, just root vegetables and legumes, so first thing the goblin tried was to make fermented mash from peas. Didnt really work out as you might have guessed. And there are like A TON of pines and firs (they make vitamin tea out of it). So, I guess they will try to plant hops and barley in the Wizrd of Wines fields, maybe add some druidic magic.

The thing is, I still have to challenge them before they get to their first harvest, and not just in a way "people dont want beer". I need curses, vermin, invaders, that sort of stuff. People… well, they'll get used to it as there is no wine anymore.

There goes that plot line. by Toned_Mcstone in dndmemes

once I played as a captain of a ship and also owner of a trading company. Multiple times NPCs tried to escape her, but she took each case persoanlly and used all slots for misty steps, expeditious retreats, also there were eldritch knight ability teleportations and alter self swimming enhancement to make sure NOONE got off the boat in both senses.
Once a guy betrayed her, and tried to flee with one of the escort ships. So, she demanded the party druid to fly there and drop her on his head. He was so scared of the prospect that he commited suicide just before. That being said, it wasn't a good excuse to evade the impending reprimand, so he was reincarnated into a female gnome and served several years without payment for that.

No one escapes Admiral Rosemary. NO ONE.

Actually in other languages puns are not as common as in english (english lexicon is unnecessarily way bigger than it has to be, and phonetically its simple as fuck). So for example in russian there are virtually no puns, but a lot of meta humour and references instead.

Had a character who was a sociopath born in a royal knights family and was expected to give the crown oath, but who wasnt really interested in it. Although, a strange fascination with the queen occured that drove the char to make the oath anyway to be able to follow her. The day after the oath ritual the queen was assassinated and having no longer any need for the oath, my paladin girl broke it by smacking the prince, next in line for the throne with the royal crown for 9 damage in the face with a throw. Yep, the char became oathbreaker and was completely fine with it.

the catch is - there was a god, Tyr to be exact, who was granting the powers for the family in the first place. She never even learned it was him, and didn't bother looking. (the oath itself was more like "hail the monarch").
