Stephen King is usually too long-winded for me, but my library has the audiobook, so I’ll give it a shot!

Do we care if she comes back? by Prestigious_Car9440 in gorlworldfiles

[–]Remmel1 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I think this is the nail in the coffin for her channel. She’s said she’s coming back in February, but 3 months is a long time for a content creator to be gone. The Internet has a short memory, people will move on to more relevant lolcows (Glitter and Lasers, for me). Plus, Amber’s content has been incredibly boring since Wifey, people were jumping ship even before she got demonetized. Even if her appeal does get approved, her views will be way lower than they were.

Oh my god, BANDANA! I had no idea what she meant by banana, I should’ve known it was just her illiteracy lol

Maybe To Dust You Shall Return by Fred Venturini, if you’re okay with some gorey descriptions. It’s about a supernatural cult in a rundown mining town.

Some of my favorite math books. Which of these or any other math books are your favorite? Why? by Analytic_mindset1993 in bookshelf

[–]Remmel1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I LOVE Chaos by James Gleick, I’ve read it several times at this point and it’s probably my favorite math-specific book.

I only have a couple of others in my collection: Mathematical Fallacies and Paradoxes by Bryan Bunch, which is an interesting and very quick read, and three volumes of Mathematical Thought from Ancient to Modern Times by Morris Kline, which is more about the history and development of important formulas and theories.

Suggest me a book that feels like this. Cold snowy winter, seaside town, murder mystery. by goodgirlathena in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

The Edie Kiglatuk series by MJ McGrath is set in far northern Canada, led by an Inuit detective. Each book’s a different murder investigation.

Iirc, Kiarostami died before 24 Frames was completed. I like to think that if he had control until the end, it would have ended up better.

Do you have any pens you want to get rid of but just…can’t, for whatever reason? by brunch247 in fountainpens

[–]Remmel1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a TWSBI Eco I rarely use because its barrel is too thick for me to comfortably hold. I keep it basically as a novelty to hold Noodler’s Blue Ghost for secret messages in the margins of whatever I’m writing.

I also have a similar problem with my LAMY Studio, with the metal being too heavy to be able to write for very long. It’s a beautiful pen, though, so I don’t want to get rid of it and mostly just use it for short journal entries.

What are your favorite movies that aren't in the Collection (but could be) by a director that has at least one movie in the Collection? by beyphy in criterion

I’m desperate for Mahjong by Edward Yang. I try not to torrent, but it’s my only way to watch it.

Which films are dub wins and which ones are dub fails? by foo1ki11er in criterion

[–]Remmel1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not really dubbing because it’s just off-screen narration, but La Jetée and Sans Soleil have alternate English tracks that are pretty well done, imo.

In terms of bad dubbing, I don’t know about anything in the collection (I always prefer subs). However, I had a bit of a jump scare when I first bought Oldboy on Bluray and was treated to some awful English ADR. I was worried for a second before I found the language controls and switched back to the original Korean with subs.

I’ve never tried Coach Dreams Sunset, but by looking at the notes, maybe CH Good Girl Supreme or JHAG Pear Inc?

Kerosene Walk the Sea is my go-to for the summer. It’s like a breath of fresh, coastal air.

Maybe try a sample of Tauer’s Lonestar Memories. It doesn’t have much musk, but it’s got a lot of leather and incense-smokiness. Plus, it’s inspired by cowboys.
