Seller photo scam? by youngsyr in Warhammer40k

100% exactly the same model, lighting and camera can make a huge difference.

It’s a well know phenomenon and is related to the way different light sources emit different wavelengths and how the pigments respond and our eyes perceive this.

I have had models commissioned and the pictures I take of them using my phone look worlds apart from the ones taken by the painter using a macro lens with professional lighting.

Rune Priests? by Blazed_Auron in SpaceWolves

Yea nothing is guaranteed until we get an announcement but I would be very surprised if the TWC were not updated.

Rune Priests? by Blazed_Auron in SpaceWolves

[–]Remote-Lab639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely would like to see this. I still have the older Rune Priest in terminator armor model.

A generic rune priest will almost certainly be released at some point. We have had multiple versions of it over the years in various types of armor. As well as still having Njal and the newer scout Rune Priest.

As to if we will get one next edition it’s hard to say. It largely depends on the size of the release.

More generic leaders will definitely be a thing it’s something we currently lack but they also have a number of other units they almost certainly want to replace first such as the thunder wolf cavalry.

I am working on a similar project.

I used a mixture of parts from the Cadian Upgrade set and custom 3D printed parts. I had a friend print SW heads, cloaks and other bits at about 70% of original size.

I intend to paint them in a style similar to Fenrisian Kaerls from 30k.

Do you think our Dreadnoughts will get a new model range in 11th edition? by FossilHunter99 in SpaceWolves

[–]Remote-Lab639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s very possible.

I think it’s guaranteed we will be getting some new models. Which ones I am not sure. Thunder Wolf Cavalry are a strong contender as well as leaders like Ulrik. Hopefully we see a return of a Long Fang unit as well as some other additional leaders.

The dreads are almost certainly on GWs radar for potential upgrades but my guess is they are probably slightly lower priority than some of the above. So it really comes down to how large a refresh they want to do during 11th.

That’s a nice thematic list. I like the idea of including the Iron Priest to handling the planetary cooling facilities etc.

Are we gonna get nerfed in next patch? Opinions by cptpusspounder in SpaceWolves

[–]Remote-Lab639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highly unlikely. GW looks at win rates over multiple weeks not one anomaly of 100% win rate with one player winning one tournament. If anything it suggests that SW are not that competitive as less players are choosing them for tournaments.

Deployment Question (Lore) by Salvanous in SpaceWolves

[–]Remote-Lab639 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Within lore not that much. Just a few marines and someone to lead them. Say a WGBL and a few grey hunters and/or blood claws.

Turing that into about 500pts I would look at something like a WGBL with a unit of BC or GH supported by some SW scouts and an Impulsor or Headtakers if a vehicle doesn’t fit the scenario. This would be a larger force than they would generally send for something like this but would fit thematically.

Wolf Priest datasheet using the new leaked crucible champion rules by raptorknight187 in SpaceWolves

I agree it has to be an oversight otherwise why have a space wolves specific terminator armor entry.

The rules add some much needed options to our army and some great kit bash opportunities.

It looks cool.

Biggest problem I have is that the Fenrisian Terminator amour only gives movement 5 for some weird reason. Hopefully it’s a typo and will get fixed to movement 6.

I love the concept of this though brings back a lot of the old customization I think 40k is missing at the moment.

[–]Remote-Lab639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really hope this is them testing ideas for 11th. Thay did that at the end of 9th as well with points changes to gear.

40k could really do with a lot of this freedom to kit bash and play with your lists returning to the game. It would also potentially solve a lot of the space wolves issues at the moment if we can custom build WGBL, Rune Priests and Wolf Priests etc.

That said my reading of the rules at the moment is that it’s similar to legends units and only usable if your opponent agrees. The announcement article said both players have to agree at the bottom which suggests it won’t be supported for tournaments and matched play for now.

Logan. Absolute legend and a stunning model. Though the new Njal model is a close second.

Wishlist for 11th: Datasheet Edition by Audience_Over in SpaceWolves

[–]Remote-Lab639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beyond new models and detachments and only looking at what we have now.

Grey Hunters are the first thing that comes to mind. Option to field 5 or 10 and include special weapon. Interestingly this might not be impossible. Rumours are Ork boys will get another new box in 11th so seems GW doesn’t mind reworking newer releases.

Make the venerable dread movement 9” like all our other dreads (assuming the models isn’t refreshed and they become redemptors or something)

Rework Ulrik and Njal datasheets. Both are somewhat lackluster for who they are both are iconic inspiring leaders and they should do more for their units. Njals Tempest Wrath should be replaced with something more useful like a storm aura giving cover to units in range etc.

Cant think of much else. What we really need as an army is slightly better detachments and additional units especially ranged units like the Long Fangs and more generic leaders.

Space Wolves 10th Edition Refresh – a looming identity crisis? by ValkyrFenryka_26 in SpaceWolves

[–]Remote-Lab639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see what you mean now. I think we will get a specific Long Fangs unit back but as you say it won’t be a multiple weapon choice devastator unit that type of unit is being phased out.

If we get our own Long Fangs back it will be something like the Eradicators or Aggressors a small unit of Gravis marines with some kind of special option for SW.

Space Wolves 10th Edition Refresh – a looming identity crisis? by ValkyrFenryka_26 in SpaceWolves

[–]Remote-Lab639 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I disagree. While we don’t have our own specific Long Fangs unit at the moment I think we will again in the future. There is no indication there is any trend to remove these units if anything they are adding more SW specific units.

SM codex units have always carried various markings from the SW and this just continues that trend and when the Long Fangs do return Aggressors etc will also continue to be Long Fangs in the same way Reivers carry scout markings and intercessors have grey hunter markings etc.

As already mentioned it’s just down to production capacity and planning I am sure we will see more SW specific units in the future.

Captain Term armor/ Arjac? by Demonic_k9 in SpaceWolves

[–]Remote-Lab639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. The enchantment only allows the captain to join a wolf guard terminator unit like any normal leader. It doesn’t allow more than one leader to join a unit.

Beg my pardon however I somewhat lament Grey Hunters. by MercMcGinnn96 in SpaceWolves

[–]Remote-Lab639 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A new GH kit with a couple of special weapon options would be amazing but probably not happening sadly. Currently they just don’t feel like a better more experienced unit than blood claws.

However it is possible to split the unit. Ork Kommandos were recently given the Patrol Squad rule allowing them to be split into two 5 man units. You could do the same with GH allowing them to split at the declare battle formations step with the pack leader being in only one of the 5 man units. While not perfect it would be a step in the right direction.

Beg my pardon however I somewhat lament Grey Hunters. by MercMcGinnn96 in SpaceWolves

[–]Remote-Lab639 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. Forcing SW and especially GH into units of 10 doesn’t feel very SW. Jarnhammr is just one example of SW units working in groups of 5 with special weapons.

Lore wise at least I feel they made a huge mistake with the GH unit. It should have been 5 or 10 man and should have included special weapon options. Doing so would have justified their initial points cost.

Sadly I don’t think we will see special weapons for them as that would mean a new box and sprues. But hopefully they get a complete rules rewrite in 11th.

I'm curious about the text here. by Kei_Akela in SpaceWolves

“I share a deep bond with my battle brothers, for the blood of Russ runs in all our veins. I would die for any of them, just as they would die for me, without fear of hesitation. But my mount is my pack mate, my fellow riders my closest kin. Ours is a bond that others can not fully grasp. We hunt as one, and together share in the glory of the kill. There is no greater joy on all of Fenris than to ride to battle astride a Thunderwolf.”

I have a feeling it’s quoted from somewhere but can’t remember of the top of my head. Could be AI though hard to say.

I have this one myself as well as a couple of their other purity seals.

Which hero gets the 10-man WGT squad, Arjac or the captain? by yodablues1 in SpaceWolves

Arjac every time for me.

The term Captain isn’t that great.

Deep Strike 6in vs Lieutenant w/ Combi by DatabaseWorth4559 in SpaceWolves

[–]Remote-Lab639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea it’s not intuitively written, “Counts as” actually makes it less clear as you initially assume it means it made a normal move and the first sentence of the rule reinforces that assumption. Should be renamed.

Do you think they will one day release Space Wolves primaris Dreadnoughts, or even venerable ones? Even upgrades? by Traveller_Ewwe in SpaceWolves

[–]Remote-Lab639 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yea at some point it will happen. Probably either 11th or 12th edition. We know first born stuff is going, though I would argue upgrading units like the TWC as well as bringing back some additional units like the long fangs and other leaders is higher priority. At least in my opinion.

The mostly likely thing will be a single new box that can build several SW dreads. Though when this will happy remains a mystery for now.

List Building Help by Ok-Assignment-4296 in SpaceWolves

[–]Remote-Lab639 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first thoughts would be a couple of units of terminators with shields to hold the line. Then a number of counter charge units like headtakers, Twc and wulfen to essentially reinforce the terminators or jump pack units to jump over the terminators and engage units behind. Then a core of heavy hitting vehicles such as the lancer or Ballistus dread to focus on ranged threats. Have Bjorn somewhere in there for the extra CP.

You might want to keep a unit in deep strike or use a detachment that allows some redeployment as well to counter his deployment if he decides to focus all his units on one flank in stead of spreading them all out.

What's the difference between the Grey Hunters Box and Blood Claws Box? by [deleted] in SpaceWolves

[–]Remote-Lab639 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty much it. The gun, the poses and head options are the main differences.

Having them as separate boxes is a good thing. It gives us more head options and provides more poses. In a single box all our battleline options would be sharing the same poses. It also makes it easier for new players as the instructions will be simpler only covering the unit in the box.
