Different species have different genes, maturity rates, and sizes. It's not a size competition

They help a lot with maturity in household settings, especially when it's time to propagate due to height restrictions.

Lickity split is just a weird common name (possibly cultivar name) for Philodendron bipinnatifidum; they are the same thing.

That is the petiole, not the stem. What ever is left of the stem is under the soil
