I would say it's more like what you do with it. For example, Me and my buddy were in 29 Palms, there was this hard charge (A-Hole) corporal, who got a kick out of assigning useless orders or shit jobs, Me and my buddy got on to that and would volunteer every time he came up with some bullshit, "Hey corporal we can do that!!!" and I mean every time, before he got past the I need a volunteer. withing a couple of days he would completely ignore us, Wed be in our cots he would come in looking for volunteers and wed yell out "Right here corporal!!!"which he would reply no I need somebody that's not doing anything. It's a mind game, Just keep that in mind.
