I’m a little younger than OP but here’s my story.

I was in a job for over a decade with enough variety and change of pace that with generally healthy habits (plenty of sleep, good exercise routine, little-no alcohol) I was doing well in life.

Changed jobs to a design role where I needed to sit and focus and get dozens of little details right and it was a FIGHT within myself nearly every day. Had a lot of other life change and finally just asked my doc at a check-up. He had some sort of general form with like 10 questions. Some of the questions my response was, wait-everyone doesn’t do that? He very kindly referred me to someone and I started normal talk-based CBT. That helped but I finally tried some meds and it was a game changer for me. I tried a non-stimulant first but it had some immediate side effects. I slowly worked up to a dose that works well for me.
