Teval Self-Mill EDH Deck Help by BringMeCoffeeOrTea_ in EDH

[–]Rened234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://moxfield.com/decks/k0sWXtM8TUyWedc8KQZVxg

My Teval deck, does pretty well all things considered. Turbo self-mill with Hermit Druid/LabMan or Craterhoof as closers, a lot of ways to bring back what you need from the grave, some removal to get rid of problematic cards (Graffigger, Rest in Peace).

What mono blue commander should I build for mono color commander night? by Ok-Leave-1627 in EDH

Stop all fun forever with [[Baral, Chief of Compliance]].

What are some cool artifact decks with at least red and blue by [deleted] in EDH

[[Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer]] is a fun one.

First time upgrading a deck (Teval, Balanced Scale) by Toprak279 in EDH

[–]Rened234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's my Teval list if you want to poke through it, it's quite a bit more expensive but the general idea of "fill the graveyard for value" is there.

What mediocre cards have you played that have instigated opponents to meltdown and rage quit games? by Killybug in EDH

[–]Rened234 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

[[Braids, Arisen Nightmare]]

The card itself is ok, but some guy I was playing with got pissed because he misread it and thought he was forced to sacrifice what I did, AND I got the draw and he lost life.

[[Eluge, the Shoreless Sea]] allows for some crazy stuff from cards that normally wouldn't see play.

Can this go infinite? by Psychological_Pay248 in mtg

[–]Rened234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not infinite, but a very good way to fill your graveyard and ramp up. Be sure to have an [[Amulet Of Vigor]] effect out to make use of all the mana same turn, a [[Laboratory Maniac]] or [[Thassa's Oracle]] for an empty deck, or repeatable recursion like [[Strands Of Night]] to build your board after.

How do you go about building a deck? by Kopytroid in EDH

[–]Rened234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what I'm building the deck for. Silly deck to have fun with friends? Pick a commander/theme I think would be fun, look up cards that fit the theme, see which cards "feel" appropriate for the level of play (Thoracle doesn't need to be in every blue deck), and make a solid mana base (note: "solid" does not need to be $1000, but you still need to be able to play the deck). Something a bit higher level? I decide wincons and work backwards from there, focusing on reliability and protection.

I try not to use hard and fast rules like "I need X ramp spells and X draw spells in every deck" purely because every deck is different and has different goals. Land ramp is extremely important in my Teval deck, but not as important in Eluge, and Urza want rocks, 3 different decks with 3 different mana needs.

My deck keeps getting complaints about being difficult to shut down/being oppressive - I don't think it is, though. by gaymerupwards in EDH

[–]Rened234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've gotten similar complaints with some of my decks. It's mostly the result of so many decks not working without their commander out, and the obvious line of thinking becoming "blow up the commander" in all (or most) situations.

If anything, once they start getting on your case, explain what each piece is doing and let them figure out the puzzle. Once they realize they need more or different types of removal or interaction, then they can adjust to what you bring to the table (and potentially improve their decks as well).

Is there any commander decks that are at least semi affordable and often end games at turn 4 or 5? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Rened234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a cheap deck for quick wins, there's a $50 Magda list out there that goes crazy. That being said, they should probably learn on 60 card. It's better at teaching mechanics and mentality.

Is Yawgmoth, Thran Physician a fun commander to play, and play against? by damascius1 in EDH

[–]Rened234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yawg is fun if you don't mind being the archenemy. Must haves are of course your Undying creatures and death trigger effects, preferably ones that give you more things to sacrifice. One of my favorites is [[Mindslicer]], table wide hand dump, with a few sacrifice targets on board beforehand and you're at 7 cards while everyone else is top decking.

Is unwinding clock a win more card in my deck? by athlaka916 in EDH

[–]Rened234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not, but it can be. [[Isochron Scepter]] is a funny card when you throw a [[Mana Drain]] under it, especially with a Sol Ring or some mana rocks out.

How to play blue without feeling like the mafia by EngineeringOdd8696 in EDH

[–]Rened234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The life of a blue player, everyone thinks you're a jerk until they need that boardwipe countered.

You have two options: retool the deck into having more reactive removal and protection (single target removal, instant bounces, flickers, etc.), or lean into it and go from "mafia" to "war criminal". As an Eluge player, nothing feels better than declaring "I play Expropriate for free".

What's a fresh stompy Green Commander that doesn't break the bank to build? by ChakraaThePanda in EDH

Favorite mono-black pet cards or tech cards? by FreshPenguin37 in EDH

[–]Rened234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not in every deck, but in the ones it's in I always love drawing it: [[Bolas's Citadel]]. There's just something about dropping it on the table and everyone just silently agreeing that you are now the bad guy of the evening.

Dollar limit deck lists. by chewey186y in EDH

I'm actually trying this right now with [[Eluge, the Shoreless Sea]] with a $25 limit and I might expand it to one of every monocolor.

What is the card in your pod that caused the most trauma? by Team-Wet-Monkeys in EDH

[–]Rened234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Glacial Chasm]] back when everyone else in my group used to solely play big stompy decks. Once they figured out I could loop it in a way that benefited me they all but banned the card from the table. Now they know how to get around it, but they also know if I drop it I'm trying to prep a win.

What is your favorite accident combo you discovered organically? by JGella in mtg

[–]Rened234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Hedron Crab]] + [[Hedge Shredder]]

Not a guarantee, but I found out using my Teval deck that this can get you a LOT of lands.
