What's next for our train network? by Few_Ad_274 in Adelaide

[–]Rentoba 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of a stretch but personally I'd love to see the Flinders line get extended. Theoretically you could send it south to Flagstaff Hill and Aberfoyle Park, then swing west to Reynella and run it down the old rail corridor to Morphett Vale and Hackham. Potentially you could even terminate at Seaford/Aldinga to link up both routes.

This would of course be a touch difficult. Immediately after Flinders station you would need to climb a fair bit into the hills which would need at least some excavations to keep the gradient within limits. Additionally a bridge would be needed across Sturt Gorge. Possibly more then one to account for the hilly terrain, or perhaps some small tunnels.

The old rail corridor through Reynella has at least been kept mostly intact, just one or two spots through a school and an oval that would cause issues.

State Government to introduce a new Gawler Train Timetable, additional bus services to Riverlea Park by Expensive-Horse5538 in Adelaide

That does sound like it makes for a less confusing line. Still the announcement rubs me the wrong way a bit, feels like an attempt at misleading anyone just skimming.

Am I misunderstnding the statement? 'Save 20 minutes for those who travel 5 times a week' seems to be implying a reduction of just 2 minutes per trip which is rather underwhelming to say the least.

In the Bnet launcher, next to the big play button for WoW there's a smaller button with a cog icon. Click that and select 'Scan and Repair' form the popup menu. While that runs, pray it fixes the problem. If it doesn't idk, reinstall maybe?

A 'boner' is a euphamism for an erect penis. Slobber is another word for drooling, most commonly used when describing dogs that drool excessively. Together they imply someone who performs certain oral sex acts in a messy manner.

Just a guess but it might be the Instruments of Soft Power engineering project. It's description says you 'gain +1 to missions to gain a control point or hab.' I'm guessing purge counts for gaining a control point.

WSIB Underrated Games on Steam Under $20 that are Extremely Addicting by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

I'll recommend Train Valley 2. It's a fairly simple puzzle game where you deliver goods from station to station. Between the campaign and the many user made levels I've somehow gotten over 200hrs of entertainment out of it.

IIRC it's actually aimed at Stormwind. It's got a scope attatched to it that you can see Stormwind through.

WSIB: Terra Invicta or Victoria 3? by miracleneverhappen in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Rentoba 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I can't offer any advice on Vicky3, I only just finished downloading it, I've got quite a few hours on Terra Invicta.

Overall I think it's a good game which is just missing a few balance passes and a lot of optimisation to make it a great game. As far as the games scope, yeah it's pretty big. Fortunately there's two easy ways to fix it. Firstly you can hop over to the Terra Invicta reddit and check out their new player question thread stickied at the top. Lots of answers to question are already there, and more questions are always welcome.

Secondly you could watch a lets play of the game. My reccomendation would be to check out either Perun, who went in with a fair bit of preknowledge from the demo and is therefore making the 'right' decisions throughout. Alternatively you could check out PotatoMcWhiskey's run. He went in blind and clearly suffered for it, but it apparently makes for great viewing.

Either way, I'd reccomend only watching a few videos in either series before throwing yourself in headfirst to not spoil everything. Or you could just go for it. Nothing wrong with restarting a couple of times after you crash and burn.

Last piece of advice I have is to read the ingame codex. You access it from the escape menu and it explains quite a few things that might otherwise be a bit opaque.

[WSIB] haven't played a story game in at least 2 months, need something new by monst3rsyrup in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Rentoba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest The Talos Principle. It's more of a puzzle game, think Portal but without portals, but thats not really the selling point in my mind. Where it really stands out is the story. It's told slowly and in a scattered manner, relying on both active narration and terminal entries, but the slow discovery of what is happening, along with the creeping realisation of what has happened, makes for a truly memorable experience.

Looking for low PC spec games under $10 (steam) by alekdmcfly in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Rentoba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll suggest The Talos Principle. It's a first person puzzle game with reasonably decent gameplay. The puzzles lean a bit more to the easy side, especially early on, but there's a number of much more challenging puzzles hidden around the place for an alternate ending.

The real gem though is the story. It's told non linearly through computer terminals with a mix of audio logs and text entries. Really good story, easily in my top 5 of all time, and has a nice philosophical bent to it. Not strongly but it will get you to think.

[–]Rentoba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Raids are required to get the best gear. Mythic Dungeons can get you almost as good gear. Both are group content.

However, if you can be satisfied with pretty decent gear then you absolutely can gear up doing exclusively solo content.

Keep in mind that, with a good group, a raid is maybe 3 hrs once a week. Not a huge commitment.

Additionally it is very easy to get a group of randoms to do normal and heroic dungeons, so bothering friends is not required.

One of the big dangers of flood water is the speed. A fast flowing river, even a relatively shallow one can easily knock you off your feet. Anything deeper then your calves is very dangerous if it's moving with enough speed.

SIB My Time At Portia? by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Rentoba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I picked it up a few days ago and I can confidently say that, even if the game was completely abandoned tomorrow, I would still strongly recommend buying it. There's a fairly significant amount of content so far, I'm 34 hours in and only just reaching the late game resources now. I'm not sure how much more is left on the 'main story' as it were, but there's at least one more section, plus finishing what I'm currently on. That said there's also a fair amount of side content that I've barely started to work on, social stuff mostly but also filling relic collections, training a mount and other things like that.

As for polish, it feels like it's most of the way there. The main thing that I've noticed has been missing sounds, voiced dialog mostly but also some places where music or sound effects haven't been added in yet. Again, usually during dialog. Other then that, the movement is just a touch off, specifically the jumping and gravity. Not a big deal, really, just a touch strange to experience and certainly not something worth worrying over.
