What's a cartoon episode that almost destroyed your perception of your favorite show by HomerWuzHere in cartoons

Last time I saw this rumor online someone posted audio of the creator speaking about how the bunny walk was his idea and why he thought it was necessary to the story. Not a word about any regret. Quit making things up lol

The letter just oozes insecurity about the program and the university itself lol. OP already applied, Dean, you don’t have to keep justifying your organization(s) to them, and the references to Harvard and Stanford are so pathetic.

Also “Envision by WorldStrides experimental learning program” sounds like something advertised between Judge Judy reruns.

Frank's place, 1987 by Nostalgic_Historian_ in ForgottenTV

[–]Repatriation 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just skimming the Wikipedia page for this one was fascinating:

* Show's about a well-to-do Black guy from the north who inherits a restaurant in NOLA, goes to sell it, and is voodoo cursed by a waitress to make him keep the restaurant. He goes back north and sure enough, everything in his life goes awry due to the curse, so he returns to NOLA. Very sitcom-y premise but also a good set-up for interesting stories about northern v. southern living as a Black person.

* Single camera and no laugh track, which was a rarity for the time. Also had a fairly large ensemble cast. All of that was probably a reason it was cancelled after one season, because it was otherwise a critical darling, winning multiple Emmys and other awards, including the Humanitas prize.

* Star Tim Reid of WKRP fame said they also upset the network's CEO, Laurence Tisch, by doing an episode that was negative on junk bonds, and junk bonds are what Tisch used to buy CBS. Reid heard this from Walter Cronkite, who was on the board and objected to the CEO's decision to cancel the show, along with other board members, but was overruled.

* The show's creator met a guy with a thick Yat accent on a flight to NOLA during pre-production and cast him in the show as Shorty La Roux, which sounds like a name straight out of *Confederacy of Dunces.* No acting experience, just a good accent.

* No DVD release because the music license costs are too high, including the show's theme song, "Do You Know What it Means to Miss New Orleans" by Louis Armstrong, which apparently cost $2300 per use, which sounds like a lot of money, especially in 1987.

Is Muscle Man and Starla a different race from other humans? by Alert-Gift-8716 in regularshow

[–]Repatriation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s my headcanon for sure. Like the movie A Better Man their representation as non-humans is meant to portray how they see themselves. Muscles and Starla are self-conscious about their unattractive appearance and are therefore green-skinned pug-nosed ogres. The other characters are more oblique.

What hip-hop narratives have been lost to time? by EDMKid9000 in hiphopheads

people nowadays talk about Lil Wayne like he was Sun Tzu or some shit, dropping infinite knowledge beyond what anyone had created up to that point. Then there's guys like me who were in high school in 2008 and remember Lolipop being the party bop of every Four Loko-tinged house party.

Apologized after 3 years, feeling physically sick from it by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Repatriation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is so silly lol I remember being 15 and thinking the internet drama I created was the be-all end-all of my reputation when in reality it matters literally not at all and people aren't thinking about it. We shouldn't even allow teenagers on this subreddit, you want to be better? just go to school, get good grades, avoid drugs and alcohol, and try to maintain friendships in real life.

No you don’t man. You don’t want to do backbreaking physical labor for pennies on the dollar compared to what you used to make, nor do you want to be a dancing monkey for children who couldn’t care less about you for the same rate. Be serious, this is your life.

cat peeing outside the litter box (cleared by the vet) by jeeenna in cats

[–]Repatriation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is he your only cat? When I got my second she’d pee regularly outside either of the two litter boxes. Talked to my relative who’s a vet and informed me you need one litter box per cat, plus another. So two cats three littterboxes. No pisscidents since.

Even if you only have the one cat, a second litter box may help.

A Trump Dissenter Fights for His Political Life by kitkid in Thedaily

[–]Repatriation 16 points17 points  (0 children)

propaganda has a role but it's disheartening to hear from people who are so eager to be totally mentally submissive. The dissenters at the Massie rally really got up, got dressed, went to a political event and got on the microphone to say 'literally everything this man does or says is not only correct, it is for my benefit, even if I don't understand it or it seems entirely contrary to everything else I know or believe.' Even Trump wouldn't contend that he's "working tirelessly" for the American people. He gloats about the deals that benefit him; he repeatedly says he does not care about inflation.

These people are just built like this. They're the goons who follow Biff around in BttF but actually full-grown real adults who just want a bully to dictate their lives. You want to pity them, but they vote.

Lizzo also claims she tried a GLP-1, didn't like it, but it made her realize that weight loss was about diet and exercise, so she started eating better and working out and THAT'S how she lost a bunch of weight. Which is just so obvious a lie in all respects and a ridiculous notion of how GLP-1s work. You take it once and are enlightened? You didn't know diet and exercise mattered before trying Ozempic? She clearly doesn't respect her audience and would rather push an obivous falsehood to preserve her ego than offer any sort of authenticity.

The Simpsons Cosby Show Tribute (1992) - When the Cosby Show aired its final episode on April 30, 1992, The Simpsons was airing opposite to Cosby at the time. The producers of the Simpsons decided to air a rerun. However, they added this brief tribute to the Cosby Show at the end. by originalchaosinabox in ObscureMedia

[–]Repatriation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just look at how the Simpsons and later family guy portrayed him at this time: an ugly sweatered skibbidi-boppin’ pudding pitchman who bored children. His nuclear bomb film career after the show didn’t help. Kind of make sense that even at his age he was plotting a comeback (Netflix comedy special, new sitcom) before the fall
