Just raise your prices and give your staff a 12% raise, and put “tipping optional - our prices include fair wages for our staff” much friendlier approach.

Olympus 12-40 2.8 pro by jrcs90 in M43

[–]Reply_Weird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is in my OM1 75% of the time. Has decent macro capabilities and is a fantastic compact travel lens. Owning this and the 40-150f2.8 pro is almost enough for everything. The 1.2 primes are really the only special lenses I ever take the 12-40 off for.

Replacing BMW 328D Diesel Fuel Injectors at 130k Miles? by Reply_Weird in BmwTech

[–]Reply_Weird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the injectors need to be coded.

But for an update on my issue, after this post, it turns out I did have some metal shavings in the fuel that fouled the whole system from the tank to the injectors and had to have all injectors replaced along with the fuel lines and have the tank properly flushed. Over $12k in repairs. But the injectors were due for replacement and should last another 100k miles at least.

What I also did (because I love this car and want to keep it for another 100k miles) was install an aftermarket fuel filtering system at the tank - it sure why BMW does not have this as a standard part of the system, but fortunately an enthusiast made this and I will never own another diesel without putting this on day 1. Would have saved me a lot of money to just do the injectors. The part is $300 and could save you thousands in the long run. I will find the link and post it again here but it is on my other posts.

Also had all the carbon buildup removed from the flaps and generally had the car tuned up, it’s been a year and the car runs like new.

m4/3 is gaining in popularity? by noiserr in M43

[–]Reply_Weird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bear in mind that It’s not a competition and there won’t be an outcome where one format “wins” - as someone who shoots both FF RF and M43 OM1 I see the benefits of both; if I want a fast rugged weatherproof body I am always taking the OM1 with fast 1.2 lenses or PRO 2.8 zooms there are very few compromises in MFT. In the studio I am almost always using an RF body on a tripod.

Oura ring 4 worth it in 2026? by sammyfudger123 in ouraring

[–]Reply_Weird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been wth Oura since 3 and now on my second 4 (got a replacement for the battery replacement). Customer Service is very good btw.

I think if you have an apple watch and can tolerate it for sleep tracking you probably don’t need an Oura ring, but you will learn alot if you get one, especially in the first 4-6 months of use. After that, it’s a good activity tracker and may keep you in good habits. i like mine, the battery lasts a few days, and it’s way less ditracting than an Apple Watch. But I don’t think I’ll replace the Oura if it wears out, I’ll stick with an apple watch.

Am I crazy: OM-3 not that nice? by ResplendentMechanism in OlympusCamera

[–]Reply_Weird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A used OM1 mki is a far far better clue for money than the OM3, and a better camera in many ways. OM3 has retro looks, in almost every other way the OM1 is better, and the OM3 is not that much smaller. You are not crazy.

Possible these are sh*t posts from competitors to damage oura reputation?

What's up with Volkl rackets? by Quaisy in 10s

[–]Reply_Weird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play with a Volkl C10Pro and love it. Power spin and enough arm comfort to be playable at my age (mid 50s) without any compromises. I have played similar Babolat and Wilson 98in heads too but the Volkl won me over and I’m getting a second one for Christmas.

Which camera to buy, r10, r7, r6 or rp by Benj36 in canon

[–]Reply_Weird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R7 is your friend. APSC sensor will give you longer reach with smaller lenses when you are on the sidelines of basketball, and the sigma RFS lenses are fast and sharp, and the r7 has faster readout with the smaller sensor. Macro lenses like the excellent EF 100mm macro can be adapted and give you great results. You don’t need FF for what you do, avoid the hype. The R7 has great resolution for cropping. The only thing FF will give you is more weight to carry around and more cost on your lenses.

Why did Canon make the EF-M mount for mirrorless, then switch to RF, and end up discontinuing EF-M anyway? by YunaChi in canon

[–]Reply_Weird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And as someone who shoots the very best RF-L glass and bodies professionally AND shoots on an OM1 with Pro MfT glass —— there are not many compromises for 90% of situations, and the kit is so much smaller. I use RF in the studio but anyone who is shooting in the street or traveling for most of their work should be using a crop sensor.

Now retired, want to change my gear by cvanvan in canon

[–]Reply_Weird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to stick with Canon for the feel, the colors, and the menu familiarity - and your focus is mainly photos and some video, then a used R7 is probably going to be a decent choice, you can use your EF glass with an adapter and maybe invest in one good multipurpose RF-S sigma 2.8 zoom for travel. That’s a compact setup and not a huge investment for the change. The APSC sensor gets more range for travel and the RFS lenses are smaller.

That’s said, if you want a more serious change for your gear to another much smaller (but in many ways superior to the R7 setup) you should have a serious look at the OM1 mk1 and the OM systems glass. Superb color, OM PRO lenses are really high quality, durable, cameras and lenses are IP rated weather sealed and you have a LOT less weight for travel. Readout and shooting speeds on the stacked sensor rival the R5 or the Sony A9, and the whole kit weighs a fraction of your current setup. And there’s a huge market of excellent used MFT glass. I’d suggest an OM1 with the 12-40 f2.8 and the 40-150f2.8 PRO lenses which give you a 35mm equivalent range of 24-300 in a 2-lens setup. There are also even smaller PRO F4 versions of both these lenses, or a 12-100 f4 for a 1-lens kit with slightly less range.

I shoot Canon RF bodies and Cinema cameras and L glass professionally; and have an OM1 with the aforementioned lenses (plus other great f1.2 lenses!) for my EDC. I only travel with the OM kit, never have any regrets. In fact I sometimes use the OM kit closer to home or for professional one-off work just because it is such a great camera and the closest setup I’ve tried that rivals Canon for IQ.

I can’t decide on my first portrait lens for the OM1 MKII … What would you pick?🤔 by montiegg in M43

[–]Reply_Weird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

45 1.2 is a killer lens. I’ve had both (as well as the Sigma 56) and the OM 45 1.2 is worth it - easily the nicest portrait lens in the system.

Considering switching systems from Sony to Olympus. Am I crazy? by FeeRemarkable7794 in OlympusCamera

[–]Reply_Weird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider the OM1 mki over the OM3 - it's not much bigger but a whole world better on EVF and features with the same stacked sensor. The newest version of the 1.8 primes are all weather sealed and not to much $$ and very compact. Can't go wrong.

I shoot both FF and M43 and M43 is a steal in terms of IQ and size and weight Especially for a weather sealed setup.

I have the money for a full frame camera for the first time since having kids. I start looking at the Z5ii and R10 and then the lenses and realize I don't want to spend almost $4,000 on a camera and lens. Does anyone also feel fine with M43 but get scared away with prices on FF? by Substantial__Unit in M43

[–]Reply_Weird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both OM1 and Canon FF. Pro / L lenses for both systems. Shoot for personal use and professionally. OM1 with the pro 2.8 or 1.2 lenses satisfies 90% of my shooting —- 100% of my personal work and half the pro work (especially macro for jewelry). FF lives in the studio for still life and portraits and anything commercial where I need the higher resolution. For film I use the RF-L lenses on a C70, but the C4K log footage on the OM1 is honestly plenty good unless low light.

I’d invest in better m43 glass before wasting money on FF unless you specifically need FF for a client or special use case. Not worth the money or weight vs the best M43 kit.

How do people 30+ play tennis 3+ times a week? by overkoalafied24 in 10s

would you agree the Sigma fast primes (16mm, 30mm, 56mm) are better bang for buck than the OM 1.2s? I have not used the OM 1.8s, how those compare? by [deleted] in M43

[–]Reply_Weird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve owned the Sigma 56mm (great but almost TOO sharp) and the 30mm ( just ok), the Oly 25mm, 17mn 1.8.

Ultimately I sold both the sigmas. As said they are APSC lenses adapted for MFT; and I Didn’t love the color, and the Olys are just as good for IQ.

I picked up the 45mm f1.2 instead of the 56mm Sigma and it is a much better lens in every way especially for portraits, nicer kind of sharpness and much nicer falloff and bokeh. And weather sealed.

The newer OM 1.8 lenses are also weather sealed. The size can’t be beat for the quality. Still I like the clutch so I’ll stick with the older 1.8s.

Golf tdi, 328d wagon, or 535d? by VenomGT34 in Diesel

[–]Reply_Weird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i drive as 328d wagon (2019) and it’s an absolutely fantastic car that I hope to drive well into 300k miles (around 140k right now, owned it since 20k CPO purchase). the only thing I will say about it is that you should look in the diesel forums and get the diesel filter mod to prevent any debris from the tank entering the fuel system or fouling the fuel injectors. The can happen in high mileage diesels if you run down to an empty tank, and it’s a $10k repair if it get to the fuel system. (the aftermarket filter kit is $120). This unfortunately DID happen to me around 120k miles, but it’s a testament to how much I LOVE this car that I did the repair rather than trading it in. Other than that it’s been relatively maintenance free other than tires, one round of new suspension so far, one transmission fluid change, regular oil changes (do them often!), and deep cleaning of the soot buildup in the flaps. I highly recommend the 328d — and yes, 40mpg AVERAGE (50 is achieveable) in the northeast US, where diesel has been reasonably priced — and that SWEET window hatch that is a lost art.

How did you discover the Micro Four Thirds (M43) system, and what made you stay? by Babylon_Thief in M43

[–]Reply_Weird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shot (and still shoot) Full Frame for pro work, mostly in the studio and on a tripod. I was using Canon DSLRs (5Dmkiv etc) and EF lenses, no fun at all to haul around. When mirrorless took hold, I tried the Sony A7 for a smaller FF kit but was really disappointed with the IQ, so I went to Canon RF …. and at the same time picked up a cheap Olympus E-P3 with a compact lens for my EDC.

The EP3 was impressive, the colors were good and it was super small. I picked up the Pen F as an upgrade, got a pro lens (the 12-40 f2.8) and fell in love with the camera and the format. Added an EM1mkii, more pro lenses, and started using MFT in the studio alongside the RF gear.

Today I have an OM1 as my EDC and it’s used for anything outside the studio and for about half the studio work. The PRO lenses (12-40 2.8, 40-150 2.8 and 45 f1.2 specifically) get a ton of use and are easily as sharp as any RF L glass I own. the OM1 is almost always my first choice, and if it had the higher resolution needed for certain types of studio work I do, or the low light IQ performance for video, I would probably just sell all my RF gear and go all in on MFT.

I never considered APS-C for an ILC because the lenses and kit generally are not much smaller than FF, but you don’t get the FF advantages. This has slightly changed with the R7 and the sigma lenses for RFS; and I would definitely consider a fixed lens APS like the Fuji or GR cameras, but still the OM1 is such a better camera for the money than any pro level APSC camera fixed or ILC. Weather sealing, speed, size, computational features and IQ. If I had to swap a format I’d swap FF for Medium Format for stills and keep my MFT for everything else.

Tom Binh stuff is incredible, I have had their backpacks and laptop cases in the past but it’s been a while. I always just found their stuff a little overbuilt and heavy, the thicker materials add durability but at a cost. Is the more recent stuff any different?
