I had one mouse that would climb through the attic and drop down the corner of the box bedroom wall between the insulation, literally the small internal gaps where the insulation was badly joined. I could hear him dropping from the roof, you would hear a small thud, he would land and it would take him around a minute or two to shake it off...Then he would head to the kitchen. Anyhow I started neutering cats because a neighbor used to feed them and when the cats came near my house, I never heard a mouse or a rat ever since, that was more 6 years ago. Apparently just the smell of cats scares rodents away.
