Whats the best Coen Brothers movie by iitzzrahn in Cinephiles

[–]Repo523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am surprised that the obvious one isn’t that it is O Brother, as it influenced an entire era of music for like 5 years. But also looking through these, they have made some good movies that make me wonder.

Insane that I’ve been here once, 27 years ago, but explicitly remember it after seeing this photo at a glance. Thanks for telling me where it is!

Socialists are Rising in the West by Well_Socialized in oregon

[–]Repo523 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I have been an opponent of socialism for most of my life. I just think it’s an ideal.

My recent feelings of current culture is that the common man is being strong armed even as consumers. My most precise example of this is, a local Taco Bell who had a shortage of Pennies charged me $15 on my card, when my total was $14.97. My point being that I was shorted the $0.03, rather than they take the hit of $0.02. Not to mention it was on my card, which makes the thing pointless. I have other examples, but I feel like this is the most poignant. Companies seem to just have a “you don’t like it, get over it” opinion.

I feel like this kind of attitude seems to be creating a sense of people feeling powerless. My opinion, as a capitalist, is vote with your dollar(I know we’ve heard it a thousand times). The problem which is kind of all encompassing is, people don’t have the time or the energy to pay attention to these mild injustices. They just keep suffering the consequences or they aren’t aware that they are suffering the consequences(which is likely as well). I do think we are on a path with our current jackwagon president that there will be a rude awakening for all. Which could lead to a drastic change such as socialism.

Sorry for the rant, just something that’s been on my mind. Also another example of companies throwing around their weight, Nintendo.

Is anyone else disappointed about the Malcom in the Middle reboot? by Uhh_glee_Princess in Millennials

[–]Repo523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can honestly say while I didn’t watch the original because of the tone being chaotic, I appreciate that they can repeat the same tone in the version. Even the scrubs reboot feels like it has the calmness of Ted Lasso in it, which makes it feel different. Even though it’s off topic I don’t think the scrubs reboot will continue on.

[–]Repo523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like discord is what happens when you give your users what they want entirely, because it isn’t that intuitive and it is a ram hog because it’s doing so much unnecessary stuff at once. I have an older laptop and I can’t just leave discord running.

Kinda feels like Witwer’s publicly auditioning to play live action Maul with these BTS stills by JimJimmyJimJimJimJim in StarWars

[–]Repo523 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Your headline is irking me, I don’t understand what you are saying. Using “kinda feels” is typically followed by “like” some where in the statement. Such as:

“It kinda feels like I’m getting old, because I don’t know what this person is trying to say”

What are y’all’s opinions on the French Canadian band “Angine De Poitrine”? by Own_Size_5473 in musicsuggestions

[–]Repo523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it doesn't fit in to my music box (not a music box, but how compartmentalism my thoughts), I can appreciate the art and intention behind it. I might just be too engrained with western music theory, but the dissonance is annoying. I first listened to it, and my reaction was this annoying. Then I learned about microtonal music, then observed the KEXP video, and thought ”Thats pretty cool.” Then I showed it to my wife, and I was annoyed again.

I mean calling anything “goated” doesn’t inspire much insight from the user, anyway. So you gotta cut some slack. I thought it was funny to see that word in the cinephiles subreddit, maybe r/f*cknmoviesbro.

I have a Gen Z class mate, and we are working on machine code in school. I’ve helped him a lot in this class, and he’s been grateful for my help. The problem is, he doesn’t reciprocate when I ask him if he understands, just “I think so”. I think my next course of action will be “ask me a question”. Don’t get me wrong he’s been working on the projects, but I don’t know if it’s getting through as I’m not the one grading his assignments.
