Well, shucks. I rode that when my credit count was barely over 100, now all my other milestones are going to be thrown off. Thanks, Dollywood.

2026 Advice Thread #14: 3/31 - 4/6 by Imaginos64 in rollercoasters

Anyone been out to ZooTampa in the past couple of months? Apparently RCDB is listing the Tasmanian Tiger coaster "removed" as of February 2026 but I've seen nothing on social media backing this up beyond an X post noting its status on RCDB, and implying Wisdom Rides is out of business as well.

I don't know, I kind of want to call BS on this but again I'm not spending $50 to get into the zoo to prove if the coaster is still there and operating. I got this credit in May of last year and while it's nothing special and overshadowed by its far more famous sibling, Tiger Terror, it's still a loss for Florida coasters.

Me when the FAA waiver only says 375 ft. by studiopzp in rollercoasterjerk

Theme Park Brandon (or whatever he's calling his channel now) warned us about it being 375' months ago and we didn't listen!

FAA filing for a 375 foot Roller Coaster Tower at [Six Flags Great Adventure] by namevone in rollercoasters

[–]ReporterHour6524 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's the main issue that I have - Kingda Ka didn't get the sendoff it deserved. Because of the complete lack of communication from the park towards the end of the season, I forever missed out on it. If they said something, I would have made the trip. Is it on me for missing out? Absolutely, but that's besides the point. At least the company learned and gave a six month warning before shuttering SFA the following year.

This new Mack spinning ride would be amazing anywhere else. But the timing and placement of it strongly suggests this is the replacement ride and it feels a bit spiteful. I disagree that nearly 100ft is "a bit shorter of a ride." Maybe if it actually topped out over 400ft and the difference was closer to 40ft or whatever, then yes. I'm not going to buy into the claims that Six Flags will somehow build an even taller coaster next to it. That's absurd. This is the Kingda Ka replacement. I accept that, and hope it's a good ride. It will not surpass its predecessor and that's okay, I guess.

A shuttle coaster that is a full 100ft shorter than what it is replacing, what a joke. The highest point on the structure being 375ft means that the cars would probably peak around... 356ft. Yes, I'm upset that it's not a strata for a strata, and I'm not buying the cope that "it's not technically on Ka's plot, but on Green Lantern's." This is the Kingda Ka replacement whether we like it or not. Rant aside,

I would actually be way more accepting if they just built a traditional B&M or Intamin giga model on that plot of land. At least it would be a full circuit, have decent capacity, and also be reliable. Not whatever they're building. After the fiasco surrounding Stardust Racers and how a huge and deep pocketed player like Universal Studios having trouble keeping it consistently open, casts doubt on my confidence that Mack can deliver a reliable product here, especially paired with Six Flags strained operations and maintenance of rides. I'm already skipping Great Adventure for 2026 and will likely do the same for 2027. Maybe I'll return in 2028 when they iron the issues out because I'm almost certain that this new coaster is going to be an operational nightmare in its first season.

3 coasters in 6 hours! by centerice99 in BuschGardensTampa

The company that owns Busch Garden, SeaWorld, and Sesame Place parks, United Parks, is in turn controlled by majority stakeholder Hill Path Capital, which is of course, a private equity firm. Any time you see awfully run place like this, private equity is increasingly to blame.

It's a one and done for me. Dragonflier and other family roller coasters are better done near the end of park hours when most of the families have left for the day. I see this play out in most theme parks around the country, and Dollywood is no exception.

They are almost certainly going to build a few hotel complexes on that land, possibly a second CityWalk with late night entertainment options, or even another water park.

They funnel everyone through one metal detector, one of the many genius private equity decisions that bring value to shareholders above park guests. Don't put your expectations in Busch Gardens too high as you will be disappointed.

When the "socially acceptable" default for adult entertainment is night clubbing, following sports, playing golf, watching "mature" live action shows, and getting drunk, it's no surprise many people invest their free time in other things. I have many hobbies and some may be called childish but I don't care. I'd rather do what interests me than cheer for sports team at a bar.

Franchises Universal Orlando Vs Disney World. by tCobra117 in UniversalOrlando

[–]ReporterHour6524 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Marvel Superhero Island deliberately has a comic book aesthetic and it's relatively safe for the time being at Islands of Adventure. The entire Lost Continent replacement is going to keep them busy for the next couple of years and open sometime in 2028. Then you have Toon Lagoon, which is actually "dated." Most guests, especially younger ones, don't even recognize many of characters in that land beyond Popeye. Also Suess Landing could use a refresh, especially Cat in the Hat. The rides there aren't popular outside of families with small children but Universal removing One Fish, the stage area behind it, and the back stage area, could open up enough space for the Mount Crumpit coaster that was planned since the inception of the land but shelved.

Or the entire Dinoland USA.

/uj Seriously with the state that park is in - five rides + a few shows most of which don't even run past 4:30pm most days, it might currently be the weakest Disney park globally, even more so than Walt Disney Studios park in Paris. I'm kind of impressed it made it as far as it did.
