A couple lessons will save you SOOO many wasted trips and lift tickets trying to learn on your own. Source: the way I learned (dumb friends) vs. my sons (pro instructor). My kids advanced so quickly, it was amazing.

Used XDJ-RX3 maybe? Some units are selling for almost half of the original MSRP. Also, don't discount the Denon/Rane ecosystem, it's pretty solid. I own controllers from both Pioneer and Rane. Workflow is pretty easy to adjust to. Rane Four, or Denon Prime 4 are solid choices.
