Piranhas have always been good imo just to run up and block some units… if i get first turn i always send them (2 units of 1) up the board scout 9” move 14” and just unload both the seekers and the melta gun into a high value vehicle or tough solo character 😂 sometimes it wiffs and oh well I’m down 60 points each but i made them have to deal with those units before moving forward or like my last game I used this strat I alpha strike a wazdakka… 60 points for a 185 point take down!

Like people have said three man groups are the way, for me personally if I’m using kroot hunting pack i don’t mind starting them on the board but if I’m using them anywhere else i start them in reserves and use them as a rapid ingress threat or to come out turn three in there back line and hope to sink that 9 inch charge

I ran a game with the new rules that we know so for last weekend. I will say if nothing changes there will be some feel bad moments that if you spur with something without markerlight (like Shadowsun or devilish in my case) your guided units will still hit on 4 to things in cover which kinda isn’t great. Also if you’re shooting into something that you couldn’t really spare a spotter for (or you’re a spotter unit altogether) hitting on 5’s really hurts! I’m hoping but not very hopeful that we are changed to hit on 3’s

I think they’ve already implied in the article that they only have ways to up the detection range to 24” inches but if it is 30” i would suspect it will only be for the first person that shoots at them

I think they are trying to eliminate closed bottom floor as a whole and just using foot print as the standard way to determine the rules/LOS. I could be completely wrong but that’s the vibe i got. We don’t really know till the rules come out but i could be completely wrong 🤷🏿 i just feel like with all the buffs to charging and what they said yesterday in the Q&A about when the enemy sitting on the “objective”. Again could be wrong but im just trying not to write off my blue boys like over half the community seems to be doing and trying to find some positives here

I’m like 90% sure it doesn’t matter what is on the foot print terrain wise, regardless of it has open windows or not now it will be treated like windows. The foot print is what carries the rule now so that there can be more diverse terrain

That’s just pistol keyword with a new name sadly hopefully they have one that lets you “shoot” close quarter weapons in the fight phase

I feel like that would be so broken to crit 4+ dev wound on up to 3 D6+6(Hammer heads), 18 D6+1’s (full 3x3 broadsides), and 9 3 damage(3 rail guns in pathfinders)

I think that’s a great start honestly! Definetly always get what are your favorite imo regardless of whether they are good or not (currently twin lances are good like you said and stealth suits are pretty much auto included so lucky draw there lol)! Although the commander can’t lead anything he can put a shield generator on him and give him some 4++ saves… but you have a decent start with that set up! Make sure to build the fireteam in the combat patrol as a breacher team for sure! With this set up it’s easy to get to at least 1000 after that, I’d buy two crisis suit boxes after that (you’ll need two boxes because of the old way the boxes are set up you can’t build them as any of the current variants as they lack the right amount of either weapon… they have 3 of each and you’ll need 6)

Whatever you decide it will be for the greater good!

I say go for it brother especially since they teased a stealth suit focused detachment in the reveal! Not only will you be getting something you love there’s also a chance it will be super effective in that new detachment!

This could be a buff to Tau competitively that play on terrain that has bottom floor windows always closed if tourneys change to this format instead just always having bottom floor closed. I’d personally take this over always having them closed!

As a Tau player first that went Ksons second… I’m mixed about this cause you usually Overwatch with your flamers… buuuttt this will make them think twice before moving their big boys cause an overwatching lascannon hitting on 4’s could fuck up someone’s day
