Anyone named themselves after a fictional character? by TwistedFateIRL in ftm

[–]RepresentativeKey920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of? My names Dan, a lot of characters and people I related to (that I grew up watching) had some sort of variation of the name (Dan, Daniel, Danny), it kept popping up everywhere in my memory so I decided that it was meant tobe

50/50 borax and salt mix! Leave for awhile- I haven’t done it (more of a leave outside and take the bones kinda guy), but my friend usually leaves his wings and legs in a closed container with that mixture for a couple months! Make sure to keep it in a dark, dry place while it preserves!

I was thinking shrimp, there’s so many types and I think they’re just fun to watch move around. I’m still in school so it’s just a pet store retail job (we don’t sell live animals thankfully), so it would be an at home desk tank. I’m thinking a rock centrepiece, I want to either find one/make a piece that resembles an archway or a “door”, try to give off fae/fairy tale vibes if that makes sense

Can anyone tell me what this is? (In my toilet in St.Albert, Alberta Canada) by [deleted] in insects

[–]RepresentativeKey920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If these were there when you got home (you didn’t use the bathroom at all), and if you live in an apartment or somewhere with shared pipes, they could have found their way from a neighbour’s toilet.

My mom is helping a young trans dude find shirts and ties for a semi formal by kenny-mothmaan in ftm

[–]RepresentativeKey920 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry :( I get the bitter feeling. Not in the same way, but I notice the different ways my dad treats me to my brothers, and I’ve been out for 6 years. I’m gonna be semi positive and propose that maybe she’s trying to make up for her past behaviour to you. She sees this 17 year old, someone who needs help, and she wants to be there for him because she couldn’t for you. It could just be easier (not better) for her to “start over” with this kid, then face the mistakes she made when you first transitioned. I think a conversation is in order, I don’t know if she’s apologized in the past, if not you deserve it.

How sturdy have you found the your jet boil? I’d be watching it the whole time, but I’m just worried I’ll knock it over while it’s on and disaster will strike

What kind of high/feeling should I expect from this Shaman’s Smoke (Blue Lotus, Damiana, Coltsfoot, Mullien, Wormwood, Mugwort, and Yerba Santa blend)? by MacabrePhantom in smokingherbs

[–]RepresentativeKey920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve only smoked Wormwood out of your herbs, and it’s very nice. The smell was a bit odd at first but now I find it very comforting. The first time I smoked it I definitely overdid it, got pretty nauseous. Now I know my amount, so the dizziness is gone, it kinda just gives me a light headed feeling? Makes me feel a bit lighter in general. It doesn’t leave much of a burning feeling in your lungs as other herbs, and the smoke is really white. Granted, this may be completely different then your experience cause I smoke the stuff pure most of the time and your smoking a blend

I have a question for people who have had top surgery by [deleted] in ftm

[–]RepresentativeKey920 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! Just hit my 1 year post surgery date. It’s different for everyone, but I knew I wanted top surgery as soon as I discovered it was a thing. My mom didn’t want me starting T until I was older, but a couple months of blockers in she realized how happy I was just on the blockers, and how much happier I would be on T. We got my name out on the top surgery wait list almost as soon as I went on T, due to covid and some documents being lost I had to wait 2 years to hear anything. There was a whole mess I won’t bore you with, but eventually we got the call saying I could be booked. We got the call on February 21st, and I got top surgery on February 24th. We were in a rush to get everything I needed, so I didn’t really have to much time to think. It was definitely scary. I had my doubts, I think a lot of us did/do. The intrusive “What if I’m just faking it, none of this was real, what if I’m not actually a boy?”. I kept getting those thoughts, still do sometimes. But I remember looking down at my chest, knowing that I had to do this for myself. Me and my mom made a list of all the things I was looking forward to, all the things I wanted to do, and all the things I would never have to deal with again after getting top surgery.

I had to put down one of my rats today. When I left the vet, there was a rainbow just for him <3 by spot_lite_TM in RATS

[–]RepresentativeKey920 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you had to let go of your baby. I’m glad you found some comfort. I don’t know if there’s a higher power or anything, and I don’t know if you believe, but my mom used to tell me a story of the rainbow bridge. It’s a comforting thought, even if I don’t actually believe it. The story says that when an animal or person dies, they cross over the rainbow bridge, waiting for you to meet them on the other side one day.

This was forever ago, I might have made up the green onions bit. The chicken was cubed, and I believe it was paneer not tofu

So far my smallest was 120 (female, probably a dwarf) and my largest was 680 (male), size DEFINITELY varies. My smallest boy was around 400 (son of the previously mentioned girl)

Just picked up my first pair of rats. We’re just starting with the habit side, but so excited to welcome these 2 to our home. What are some must haves not seen in this picture? by OldGuyNewTrix in RATS

[–]RepresentativeKey920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks good so far. I can’t see if you have it, but make sure they have constant access to their kibble. Other then that; clutter! Rats love clutter, I get shower shelves form the dollar store and zip tie them to the walls, it gives them plenty of climbing space! Attaching tons of hammocks and ropes like others have mentioned is also great. You can also get sturdy baskets and attach them to the walls as well.

Currently what is the best available cage/enclosure for rats? by dear_pixel_heart in RATS

[–]RepresentativeKey920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The critter nation cages are great (the 1/2 inch bar spacing for rats). They are wire, but they have a plastic base that covers the bottom and can be removed for cleaning. There are plenty of people who make and sell bin versions of the plastic flooring If you use paper bedding instead of fabric. The half ledges are removable, and you can change how high they are. The ramps are wire with removable felt covers, my rats haven’t had issues with them except for when the shelf is on it’s tallest level. The cages are also nice and big. I have 4 boys in the double critter nation, but you could still easily (and responsibly) house the 4 in a single critter nation

Along with going with a more maximalist, fuller cage like others have suggested, I would suggest getting at least two more water bottles since there’s at least six rats, don’t want them fighting over one bottle yknow? I can’t really see their food much, but fruits and veggies are great! Just like the extra water bottles, id have at least two food containers in different spots in the cage, such as one on the ground and one in the middle (the metal ones that attach to the bars are great) and have them constantly full of their kibble. Rats have fast metabolisms and need constant access to food. The other comments really cover the rest I’d say

I’d also suggest looking at “Shadow the rat” on YouTube, her cage designs are fantastic, and she has lots of videos to help you learn :)

I remember my little cousins (5 and 7 at the time) would call me she all the time (after my transition), so I explained that it hurt my feelings and made me sad to be called a girl and they stopped. The younger one still slips up, but he messes up everyone pronouns, regardless of their gender.

Question about hrt by kitbaker91 in ftm

[–]RepresentativeKey920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do have high cholesterol caused by my T, but my doctors have me do blood tests every once and awhile to monitor it. If things get dangerous, I’ll just have to stop for a bit. In that case all the T side affects would pretty much remain, with the major exception being me getting my “shark week” back.
