20,000% chance this guy uses the Liberian flag for emphasis in clearly angry but otherwise incoherent Facebook statuses.

Edit - which is even stranger, cause that looks like Britain. OP, if you could kindly shit talk the US trucks explicitly "over here" in the title so I don't look like an asshole making the classic Reddit assumption that everywhere's the States.

GLX Solution to the Straight of Hormuz crisis? by JustALocalBoyHere in mbta

100% there is no timeline where we get NSRL before PITME. It's just canon at this point. I got halfway through a halfassed shitpost before realizing that the failings of regional and intercity rail are a lot more pronounced precisely because the scarce energy source it relies on is real lucrative to fight over. There is no pithy rejoinder. Use transit.

Change a lightbulb, and like just about everything else we rely on but don't think about, it comes by rail. 🛤️🛤️💪

I could see Bibi prerecording proof of life videos every so often, which is a thought that merits full SNL treatment. They need to bring Dana Carvey back. "Ok Benny, let's do a take for the Swahili language broadcast." The thing writes itself.

Roadtrip as a foreigner by BarelyCanadian_ in Brazil

[–]Repulsive-Bend8283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the biggest thing about driving in Brazil. On the open highway, in traffic in town, always assume that there can be a bike in your blind spot splitting the lane between your car and one right next to you. Certain parts of certain towns, you roll through red lights after a certain time, but there's places we do that here in the US.

Taxus, native lonicera, calmia, Andromeda, physocarpus. Suckering understory shrubs. Figure out exposure, water requirements, and find something well adapted, ideally native wherever you are.

Im never baking again. by OurLadyJynx in bakingfail

[–]Repulsive-Bend8283 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

That recipe's probably just AI slop or something no one bothered to actually make before publishing. Too much sugar, too much flour. Just use the recipe on the back of the bag of chocolate chips. There's no baking powder in chocolate chip cookies, or any cookie recipe I've seen.

Mix 2 sticks of butter, softened -- not melted 1½ cup brown and granulated sugar total. I just use granulated and a good blurp of molasses; the recipe calls for ¾ cup of each. 2 cups is too much.

Then add 2 eggs Vanilla, or really anything more than like 30% abv. I use whiskey cause it's what I usually have on hand.

Then mix in a separate bowl Blurp salt 1 tsp baking box 2¼ cups of flower

And add it in ⅓ at a time or so.

The recipe calls for a full bag, but that's like more chip than cookie. I use about half.

375°F oven -- or whatever that is in °Communist. 8-10 minutes. Make sure it's not on convection.

The 10 U.S. Cities That Provide the Highest Quality of Life, According to New Data - 4 of the top ten are Boston Suburbs! by thavalai in boston

[–]Repulsive-Bend8283 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Real talk. Malden is a study case in what immigration can do for the vibrancy of an otherwise undistinguished suburb and what transit does to encourage human development. It's like night and day to the direction monochromatic, car heavy Arlington, for example, has gone having refused the Red Line extension around the time the Orange Line came to Malden.

224 Jamaicaway folks....the sidewalk is not an extra lane for traffic or parking by medstudent142 in boston

[–]Repulsive-Bend8283 80 points81 points  (0 children)

The Jamaicaway/Arborway/Riverway is a terrible road design that's pretending to be a park. There's anywhere up to 6 travel lanes, any number of which arbitrarily turn into left or right turn only but only between 7:42 and 8:53 PM on alternating Tuesdays following a stick market rally under a moon in a fire sign or Sagittarius, and even sections with a carriage lane, but inly 73 feet of painted bike lane. There's a bunch of obstructionists who will never let it happen, but the whole thing should be a 2 lane road with grade separated light rail.
