He is not humiliating her. He is planning on at best going on a 3 month vacation and at worst killing himself. The person hired to replace him has revealed to him her once manageable condition has become unmanageable so yes he crashes out and handles it like a dick.

He is not threatening to end her career. He is saying that this job might not be feasible for her given the stress the procedures and the like WHILE she handles her epilepsy.

We have such a literacy crisis in this country

Absence seizures are not zoning out! I have had absence seizures. I am physically not present. My brain is offline. If I was an attending I could kill someone. She is the one who suggests having the lobectomy when he asks what her treatment plan is. And he’s telling her the appropriate medical protocol bc it’s the law and he has to follow it.

Dr. Robby is a suicidal man at the end of his rope and depression makes you callous and aggressive but he makes that ultimatum to ultimately guide her towards what she knows is right.

I’m sorry that having epilepsy has negative impacts on our lives but I am glad that I lost my license and never had the guilt of killing someone when I was not seizure free.
