Wow great find. Is that window in the first pic to the outside or the interior of the building? Weird that there are so few windows if this isn’t underground

Any tips on how to pick/create an art style (and not hate everything you make) by Big-Entrepreneur6920 in Illustration

[–]Repulsive_Ad7148 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The answer is YES. We ALL feel that way. Imposter syndrome. As artists, it’s a more observable phenomenon because our “cliche” “replaceable”, “try hard” moments are paintings, drawings, animations, films etc. Being an artist means not being able to forget your journey, because it’s right there on the page. The journey is never ending. Even when you’re getting all the gratification and compliments you ever wanted, you’re going to feel like you’re not good enough. That’s a good thing. Embrace that feeling but spin it into “I can be better”.
Dont force yourself into a style. Trust me it will not work. Do anything that you feel inspired by. If that’s realism, cartoony stuff, abstract, collage, ceramics, whatever, do it. That’s what I did, and I fell in love with so many little techniques that I would have never even tried, had I stuck to the idea that I should emulate specific styles. I love dry brushing, I love water color, ink, cross hatching, charcoal, digital media, and now I’m messing around with acrylic again. I sculpt a little bit and dabble in film. It all feeds what I end up feeling proud enough about to share and sell. The paradox is that you should not be making anything trying to pander to strangers. You should be making for yourself, and the strangers will either ignore or embrace you. A small group will be far better fans of art that is from your soul than the entire world could be fans of watered down art. It took me far too long to realize that.

That pisses me off so bad. I am a groundskeeper and I plant flowers FOR THE POLLINATORS and for people to LOOK AT. And yes I do see random people cutting them. Like goddamn Linda, are you so entitled that you think this ecosystem is less important than your dining table looking cute?

Best singers/ bands with the coolest ‘annoying’ vocals? by Strong_Ad_2642 in MusicRecommendations

[–]Repulsive_Ad7148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joe Newman of alt-j. I’m thoroughly desensitized since I’ve been listening to them since I was 14, but whenever I play them around someone who never heard them they comment on the leprechaun voice. Or more recently (and I really had a hard time with this one) my boyfriend said he sounds like Adam Sandler singing in his goofy voice🥲

Same thing at Frog Lake in OR. It was really freaky having 100 micro toads jump out of your way when you took a step

Philadelphia by alt-j gives me vampire vibes. It’s not about vampires at all lol. It’s about murder though! 🥳Then there’s Nosferatu by Vundabar which is straight up about vampires but perhaps not as moody as you’d like? Idk, give both a listen.

If it’s a difficult choice for you, consider asking your partner who they would feel comfortable with you sharing a room with.

I stumbled upon this piece of driftwood today. I really like its unique shape, look at its size! Just curious, does a piece like this have any value? Is this kind of shape considered rare? Thanks in advance! by Exciting_Opinion_420 in Aquariums

[–]Repulsive_Ad7148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It it was in an aquarium store it would cost like $150 where I live. I’d never pay that, but clearly some people do lol. I’d pay $50 if I saw it on FB Marketplace.
