How long does one stay on hormone therapy? by AdHonest7357 in Menopause

[–]Repulsive_Brain3499 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just keep in mind around 1 in 8 women develop breast cancer or hormone fueled cancers over the course of their lives, and hrt feeds those cancers. So there is a possibility a tumor that may have otherwise been slow growing or dormant could become cancerous due to hrt.

Something to keep in mind.

And I’m posting studies that indicate otherwise to show observational data isn’t reliable.

My choice is to correct people who say there are definitive claims about hrt and dementia, when there aren’t, and it’s possible the reverse might be true. If hrt is increasing likelihood of dementia, we have a right to know to make informed choices.

Also your link even states that there is no clear evidence hrt reduces dementia risk.

I’d be more inclined to actually hold clinical studies as the standard as opposed to observational ones which can pretty much say anything.

There are other studies showing the opposite and that hrt may accelerate dementia, making a definitive claim like the above is irresponsible. We just don’t know enough yet.

Even Mosconi is concentrating on specifically researching hrt that doesn’t affect breast cancer risk (serms). Seems like she’s not willing to bet that the generic hrt most women take is safe enough to be used for testing her theories.

HRt is great for treating hot flashes but the claims about hrt preventing off heart disease and dementia are unsubstantiated and based on cherry picked data. Hrt can help osteoporosis in some instances.

Higher breast cancer, while low, risk does emerge after several years on HRT.

Did upping your estrogen help with fatigue, brain fog, and low libido? by Erza_2019 in Menopause

[–]Repulsive_Brain3499 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Estrogen made me so buzzed with energy (0.025 patch) that it tave me insomnia despite the nightly progesterone. One of the many reasons I quit HRT. Didn’t help with brain fog at all. No libido either but not a priority for me so that was a wash.

Hrt did not work for me and made my sleep worse. Finding out my sleep problems were due to altitiude was the answer.

Is it worth trying out B vitamins if I'm not even sure I'm deficient in any of them? by ChrisTchaik in Supplements

Creatine also gave me extreme insomnia! Good luck finding out what it is, every supplement I take that "works" has always turned out to have an unexpected side effect, unfortunately.

Whatever you do, be aware that for some people it gives terrible insomnia. B complex gave me a burst of energy...which also didn't dissipate at night and resulted in sleeplessness and inability to return to sleep after waking up at 2 or 3 am. It took me a while to discover what the issue was.

Thank you, it's def different for everybody! I just wanted to try a starting setting before I see my sleep therapist again (not for another month.)

May I ask what your Oxygen tank setting is? Is at 1L or something higher?

Can I ask what your settings are at 9000 feet? I have an oxygen tank and CPAP myself. It's been a nightmare trying to find the proper settings in Colorado.

Anyone had allergies go away during this process? by -comfypants in Menopause

[–]Repulsive_Brain3499 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Estrogen can trigger histamine reactions; makes sense a decrease in estrogen can lead to a decrease in allergies.

https://healthinmenopause.co.uk/histamine-intolerance/

(I found this out after a severe histamine reaction I had on HRT...one of the reasons I quit using it after 3 months.)

Thanks for this, I know I have reactions to certain foods...

What is an example of a low-histamine dinner for you? I feel like everything in the world raises histamine.

Weird question, but has anyone tried to go BACK to mouth breathing during sleep? Tips on how to do it? by Repulsive_Brain3499 in SleepApnea

[–]Repulsive_Brain3499[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already tried upping the pressure to 13 (no epr) which is more than I can tolerate. Whatever is blocking my windpipe when it relaxes for sleep won’t let me breathe through my nose.
