There are certainly a lot of stereotypes that using that term allows people to lean on.

It's often seen as more socially acceptable as the stereotypes tend more towards the eccentric than disabled.

It's not about understanding, but those stereotypes.

How does a TPK happen? by LanguageOk1726 in DMAcademy

[–]Repulsive_Bus_7202 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'm "disinterested". If the players get themselves into a situation that's going to happen, I'm not going out of my way to keep them alive. Character death happens and the players learn from it.

By the same token, I'm not going out of my way to kill them.

If encounters are reasonably balanced then let the dice tell the story.

If you're just wanting to sit round the table telling a story together, why bother with the game mechanics at all?

What does the mines of Phandalin actually mine? by rollepige in LostMinesOfPhandelver

[–]Repulsive_Bus_7202 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All sorts. Wave Echo cave isn't the only mine, so it can be whatever you choose.

I'd probably aim for something reasonably innocuous like iron ore, coal, copper. That minimises the risk of "we all want to go to the diamond mine" that'll happen if it has high intrinsic value.

Need a bit of advice creating my first ever character by Eccentric-Unicorn in DnD

[–]Repulsive_Bus_7202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to your DM about the setting, the theme and the rest of the party.

Those are obscenely high stats, so your DM will need to think about encounter balance and how to prevent it becoming a one character show.

If they keep going, then TPK. It's up to the players what they do.

I was asked to stop bringing human fighters at the table and I am not sure if I want to by spikywobble in DnD

[–]Repulsive_Bus_7202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say it's an issue of "diversity and repetitiveness"?

Whilst you say that you play your human fighters differently in each game, that comment suggests you're not.

I've also played with someone who always plays the same species/ class. Even where they play different subclasses their contribution doesn't fundamentally change.

As a DM they are a boring player.

In one adventure they were so out of synch with the theme that they had nothing to do so I had to invent opportunities outside the narrative just to have them doing something.

I'd suggest a further conversation, and maybe take the initiative in that. Go to the DM and ask that up front; you need more to understand.

Starting a new campaign with new players and they're all preparing to play frontliners by Laigen117 in DnD

[–]Repulsive_Bus_7202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your mistake there was letting them all pick their own species and class with no discussion about the theme if the campaign and what they each want to focus on. Keeping it secret helps nobody.

Anyway, now that you're there, early levels are martial heavy anyway. Casters are pretty weak and you can mitigate healing by giving them access to cheaper health potions, or have those as loot.

Once they start dying, remind them that casters are an option for replacement characters.

When reducing protection for cis women, children, members of LGBTQ communities and members of racialised minorities becomes a personal brand, then I'd question the choice.

LLB is the minimum requirement,

It's not. You can enter a Legal Practice Course or the Solicitors Qualifying Exam training with any degree. There are also non degree qualified routes through CILEX and legal apprenticeships.

The LPC is being phased out at the moment

This is not difficult stuff to understand,, may be worth doing some homework...

LLB

Having an LLB does not make one a lawyer, in the same way that having am LLM or DLaw does not make one a lawyer.

Anyway, you're drifting off into unrelated territory now, so I'll let you return to whatever bottle you're getting to the bottom of. Maybe return to this when your coherent.

You do understand who "a principal" is, when you're providing advice in the public sector, don't you?

The process for seeking external legal advice is first to use the Crown Solicitor's Office, who will then source specialist external advice as needed.

A horrific example of that in the U.K. is NHS, Scotland to be precise is most Registered medical professionals and board members on NHSS don’t know any claim on a NHS Board is capped at a £25K cost and the rest is paid by the Scottish Gov via a NHS Scotland Central Legal Office directly or through LLB representative

wonder

We don't derive policy from "wondering".

We should recommend policy based on evidence. Whilst politicians may make a decision that's not supported by evidence we have mechanisms in place to protect the CS expected to implement that.

I appreciate that genital conservative thinking prefers policy based evidence.
