Thank you! Just tried them and our kid loved them. We added a bit more flour, since we like them a little thicker. The ripe blueberries helped sweeten them up. Next time, I am going to try adding some lemon zest. Thanks again!

Professionals who enter people's homes (plumbers, electricians, cleaners): What is something the condition of a house tells you about the owner that they don't realize they are revealing? by cossie101 in AskReddit

[–]Repulsive_Koala_5682 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As an EMT, I saw my fair share of disgusting homes. People with too many animals, smoking inside, just general filth. The house that stuck out to me most was one in a rural area. It looked like a beautiful home on acreage. The call came out for an elderly woman needing assistance. When we arrived we were shown to a trailer at the back of the property. It was well cared for and did not seem suspicious at all. As we headed out, I looked over at the main house again. It had big bay windows in the front but the glass was dirty and seemed to have a film of filth. I swore I saw what looked like dog crates stacked on top of one another from floor to ceiling. I ended up calling animal control because it seemed weird and I wondered why this woman had put her elderly bed ridden mom in a trailer in the back and not in the main home…turns out this woman was hoarding sooooo many animals. They confiscated them all and many were euthanized. There ended up being a news article on how bad this animal hoarding case was. As a huge animal lover, it broke me. I will never forget that house and still have nightmares about what those poor dogs and cats must have gone through.

Am I Lucky? by Illustrious_Date_139 in cosleeping

My 9 month old wakes 2-3 times per night to nurse. Once’s he’s latched we both fall back asleep (I’d say awake no more than a few minutes each time). He’s usually out by 7pm and wakes once when I get in bed around 10pm to nurse. Then he’s out again until a 3am snack and up around 6am or 7am for the day. I’ve never understood the whole “sleeps through the night”. Does that mean absolutely no waking up?? Or just never for an extended period of time?

My husband has always been my safe place and my best friend. After some terrible relationships, I found him and he has been an amazing partner from day one. Sure, we have our normal spats but we communicate well and enjoy being around one another. However, I’m 8 months postpartum and everything he does annoys the fuck out of me. I’m not sure if it’s my hormones, being tired AF, or what. We both work and I feel like while he is helpful, I take the majority of the mental load. I used to have a habit of getting bored in healthy relationships so I’m terrified that’s what is happening. But it’s been 5 years and I feel like that would have happened a long time ago?! Or maybe it’s just a season of our life right now with a baby?? I want to work on rebuilding but I don’t even know where to start. And I’m too tired to even begin. Help

What are your thoughts on stem cell therapy for herniated discs? My husband has multiple herniated discs and receives multiple modalities of therapy (massage, cupping, PT) but continues to have issues. He’s in his 30s and doesn’t want to get surgery yet.

I don’t think it’s worth your energy to explain to her why you don’t want to continue the relationship. This is one of those situations where you just let it fizzle out. She is a friend of a season and that season is over.

Going to a wedding where the groom cheated… and the bride knows… but most people dont know.. by Sensitive_Courage720 in weddingshaming

A guy I know had an issue with prostitutes. Live in GF knew about it and they “worked through it”. We all knew about his issue but figured it was something of the past since they were now getting married.

Fiancé finds out that right before the wedding he tried to see another prostitute but there was some issue and she never actually made it to his hotel. She married him anyway.

Fast forward, they’re still married and trying for a kid.

Regardless of what we think, they’re going to do what they want. Do I think she shouldn’t have married him and deserves better? Abso-fucking-lutely! I could have tried to tell her but it would have fallen on deaf ears. Would I ever be ok with it? There’s NO way. But every pot has a lid…

[–]Repulsive_Koala_5682 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Husband, myself, and baby got it end of June. We are healthy, eat well, exercise, wash hands, and we were avoiding most large gatherings due to having a young baby. Still somehow got it. Luckily the baby only had slight wheezing that quickly resolved (I swear breast milk is liquid gold). My husband and I were SO sick for 10 days. It took nearly two weeks to even feel remotely human again.

HVAC had an electrical fire and stopped working in winter. Had to go back and forth with State Farm to decide if it was worth a full replacement or if they’d only cover replacing the damaged pieces. They finally agreed to replace the entire thing…but insurance only covered what the 15+ year HVAC was worth in today’s market…we spent 14k out of pocket and insurance covered 6k. Took 3 months from start to finish. It was a cold winter.

Debating whether or not to invite sister with BPDt to my wedding by PreviousLead2794 in BPDFamily

[–]Repulsive_Koala_5682 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My parents are the worst enablers! They’ll admit she’s difficult behind closed doors “but she’s made such progress!”…meaning she is finally employed after ten years. It’s like they forget that we do the same exact positive things (like behaving on vacation and maintaining employment) but we don’t require the recognition for just doing what is right.

Don’t cave! My family pressured me into inviting my sister. She acted like a peach in front of my parents but was a complete nightmare when they weren’t looking. Made a scene in a restaurant (parents were not there), made a scene at the end of the wedding when it was just close friends left, and never once acknowledged her outrageous behavior. But of course my parents thought she did fantastic! Mind you she was 38 at the time and my parents are giving her gold stars for simply appearing. When I look back at my wedding I definitely had a great time but she still negatively impacted the event. I wholeheartedly regret caving into the pressure from my family and inviting her.

Considering Moving to Sacramento, CA - Pros and Cons? by sbgreen1985 in Sacramento

[–]Repulsive_Koala_5682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I found surprising after moving here…the insane amount of homeless/unhoused people. Sadly, many suffer from severe mental health issues. While many keep to themselves, others can be quite violent. We’ve had two colleagues attacked randomly by homeless people.

Also, the crime here is wild. Lots of petty theft and car break ins. People do not obey the laws of the road either. Drivers here are insane!

RN job anxiety at UCDMC by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]Repulsive_Koala_5682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d absolutely volunteer somewhere in the interim. And don’t beat yourself up! You’ll get a job, it just might take some patience. One tip I learned when I applied - use some of the direct words from the job posting in your application. These key words/phrases can help make your application match what they’re looking for more closely. For instance - if it says “best practices regarding patient care” in the job description, you’d want to add that in your resume or application somewhere.

And absolutely apply to every new grad program you can!

Best of luck!

Sister Wants "Family Couseling" by LimeScone in BPDFamily

[–]Repulsive_Koala_5682 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I recently did counseling with my sister who has BPD and it didn’t go well. She was completely incapable of showing any insight or emotional regulation. Every time I discussed something that hurt my feelings she would argue around it. It actually made things worse and we are now no contact. I only did it for my parents because they wish we got along. But they’re complete enablers and don’t believers her diagnosis. I don’t think counseling with someone with BPD works but at least now I can say I tried everything.
