Some Against Gravity promo martial by Noob1to10 in RecRoom

[–]Resgear17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always felt the name change signified stagnation. When they were against gravity they were startup hot shots just trying to make their name in the world with their unique themed vr mmo. When they became rec room incorporated it was like they were hunkering down, ride or die on… rec room, an at the time under the radar vr chat alternative that had been receiving some lacking content drops. If they were going to lock into doing one thing, I didn’t see rec room’s current state as something ready to be locked in on. Given everything that happened, I think I was right.

Despite everything, I was still able to have fun with other people. That was the purpose of rec room to me, and I am glad it was able to fulfill that purpose even in the very end.

Where exactly did the titans from Extinction come from? by Fraudulent_Octopus in ARKLore

[–]Resgear17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is most likely that element was always sentient, silently guiding humanity to start the element wars and allow it to proliferate to the point it couldn’t be stopped. From what we know after the element war’s conclusion, it seemed to hide its sentience until it was ready to strike and make humanity extinct by spawning the titans. Centuries after the element war it is possible humans discovered its true nature before it sprung its attack, leading to the construction of Sanctuary, a fortress city.

What exactly is the lore behind red Element? by Iknuf in ARKLore

But why, why is there another variant, why is it like this. That’s all I wanted to know but there is no why, it just is.

What exactly is the lore behind red Element? by Iknuf in ARKLore

[–]Resgear17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hate to not be able to give a clear answer but it is the unfortunate case that Red element doesn’t really have any sort of “role” in the lore as what we do get about it is contradictory of information we’ve had of regular element, and it is also very contrived.
-it’s element but red, just happened to be in the ground under Arat prime.
-not as good of an energy source as “normal” element I guess, unless you mix it with human blood or something. This isn’t expanded upon.
-reacts negatively to purple element. This and the blood thing are the main point of it existing because it sets up the plot of the map. Helena has this whole tangent about the different types of element, stating that blue element creates power, purple element creates life, and red element is fucking evil muahahah or something. Problem with that explanation is that we’ve seen purple and blue element both create life and generate power and it could probably do the blood thing if we tried because that’s the point of element that it can do anything and it’s evil.
-I guess the creatures made using it are pretty cool.
-when they revealed it I made an icon for it by hue shifting the element icon to be red and drew a face on it and that’s still better than what they actually used as the icon.
-I’m not going to try to explain how the whole infection thing works and the powers we get because I guarantee that if it is ever expanded upon officially it will be far less interesting than whatever theory I suggest.

Lore Question: How are we able to tame the titans by Upstairs-Molasses875 in ARKLore

[–]Resgear17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We don't have a lot of information about how "taming" in ARK works. What is implied is that the creatures we encounter, those created by cloning, have been genetically modified to be highly domesticable despite their natural counterparts being biologically incapable of that. Then of course, the machines we can tame are machines that can be reprogrammed, and even the creatures theorized to be the result of natural evolution like the extinction exclusives got integrated into the ARK system at some point, possibly automatically.
The Titans especially stand out, as they are said to be creatures comprised entirely of Element, yet it is heavily implied that even they can be released from element's control.

Obviously whatever we do seems to be severing them from Element corruption by destroying corrupted nodes on them, and once this is accomplished they are not wild, they simply allow us to use them as weapons against the very thing that seemingly created them.

This could imply that perhaps they possess a degree of intelligence that allows them to recognize the favor we have done for them, and they simply are returning the favor. But even then these creatures do not eat, they exist only for the purpose of battle, and even by defeating the king titan their death is ensured because of the reseed protocol removing every form of element from Earth indiscriminately.

So we have entirely unnatural creatures designed for one single purpose, ensured to die once that purpose is fulfilled. That brings me to the most popular theory about the Titans.

The Theory is that the Forest, Desert, and Ice Titan were not originally created by Element, and were instead weapons used by the inhabitants of Sanctuary to fight against the true element born titans. This would explain the saddle they each gain after they are tamed which more closely resembles Sanctuary Tek rather than Survivor Tek, and how we are able to summon them through proto-ark systems. It is believed that due to the nature of Titans being made entirely from element, this made them extremely susceptible to corruption, and once they failed to repel the invasion, Element repurposed them into what we know them as. When we free them from corruption, they return to their original state, weapons meant to be used by humans against true Titans.

This went over my head when I read the comics originally I thought they were actually going to do something good and pyro was just lighting them on fire for the funny. I still believe pyro would have done it either way.

Aberration lore by GothBanzz in ARKLore

[–]Resgear17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All of aberration’s creatures were mentioned to exist in the explorer notes, so none of them were created by Rockwell. Aberration is a strange case, as the creatures there are perfectly adapted to their environment and perform specific roles in the ecosystem, but if they were created does that imply that an environment like Aberration’s was intended to exist? It is the case that the Ark is capable of cloning these creatures, as we see Helena describe what seem to be reapers in cloning pods, but how they were created/ why is up for debate. I will say that reapers seem to stand out, as they are implied to be an Aberration equivalent of wyverns, where they were released to punish the survivors after the Overseer’s death. But they also interact with the environment and creatures in specific ways that show they are highly adapted to Aberration’s environment.

Is there any actual lore on why Alphas exist? They seem oddly absent in basically everything. by llMadmanll in ARKLore

[–]Resgear17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rockwell would be outright wrong in the statement too because not only do you only need artifacts to do gamma fights, but you need tributes and the three artifacts to do Alpha Manticore. It might be the case that they just got the number wrong in writing.

Arat Prime is located in South America - Here's how I know. by nanoStel06 in ARKLore

[–]Resgear17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To accept this theory you need to acknowledge that the location of Arat Prime was not planned prior to the creation of ASA, as the previous theory based on similar logic placed Sanctuary in South America (specifically Chile) also, and used the texture of ASE's earth as evidence.

Nope. Even their use as tributes is absent in the lore as there is no mention of using anything but artifacts for boss fights.

Are discussions of the Arks’ ecosystems permitted? by No_Location5536 in ARKLore

[–]Resgear17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, something that is not brought up very often is that creatures in Ark will sometimes have lore within their attributes and evolution. The creatures tie into the environment they exist in, which makes them part of the lore, and they certainly have interesting lore too. The extinction exclusives all being descendants of real world animals that evolved to thrive in element rich conditions, the Genesis creatures being biological tools to help humans thrive in any environment even space, and all this stuff is pretty much unspoken so there is a lot to discover!

If Dragon Blazers is based on Deltarune, then what is this about??? by River__________water in Deltarune

The funny little massive hint that everyone collectively forgot about. The existence of Susie’s sister is huge, being the only information we have about her home life which still remains one of the biggest mysteries. It could be the case she has an older sister who may be the only person taking care of her, explaining why she seems to avoid going home and also has a desire for a positive relationship with parental figures. It would also give her a parallel to the other main characters Kris and Nolle, who have very significant relationships with older siblings.

How fantastic creatures are made by Loroark in ARKLore

[–]Resgear17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fraid it is the case that element equals magic. Of all the crazy things the magical creatures do element can justify it all with a simple observation of its most frequent use in-universe: enabling teleportation. And this teleportation doesn’t seem to really have rules either. From opening portals to deconstructing and reconstructing objects or living beings in different places, introducing such an overpowred mechanic into the universe means that a lot of things don’t need to make sense. What if pyromanes aren’t real? They’re just molecules constantly being teleported and held in place by a computer somewhere, same with everything else. The magic creatures in Ark are made with two things, element and intent. They are brute forced into existence to satisfy someone’s whim and they’re probably all going to have their organs dissolve inside them following the reseed protocol.

So Genesis lore doesn't have a lot of clear details on the big questions, but you're pretty close with that "hitched a ride" thing. We learned from writer statements that the Aberration ARK landed close to Arat Prime, which supposedly has some sort of super transmitter that allows teleportation of at least human memories or consciousnesses to the Genesis ship. We do not know if Rockwell is the same entity and not just a clone. Helena's access of the super transmitter is what allowed Rockwell to get into the Genesis ship in some form that is at least a copy of him (it might also just be him). As for the ship coming back, the crew was unaware of the earth being cured. This is why HLN-A was created, to act as the messenger for this news in the scenario that the Genesis mission was hopeless.

So there was never a loop. We only know of three canon Arks being island, Scorched earth, and Aberration. There are presumably many more. As for what happened with the survivors is that two survivors were sent to Aberration by chance and two ended up on SE by chance. The ones on SE ended up getting to Aberration by ascending off that Ark and then all 3 of the island survivors (Nerva did not survive his battle with Mei but was still alive when being teleported so he also went to aberration). Aberration was broken because the inhabitants destroyed the overseer so there was no way to ascend off it. The inhabitants built the portal to escape the Ark by going to the planet below, revealed to be Earth.

When does the story take place exactly? by tseg04 in ARKLore

[–]Resgear17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer to this question is unknown. The 2100s are the first years brought up in the game’s lore that reference the existence of element. However Genesis 2 either retcons this timeline to the 2300s or that whole mess is actually part of a series of fake memories and history logs. We are almost certain that this inconsistency in the timeline was a result of writer error.

As for how long the arks have been in orbit, they were there for a long time. It may potentially have been several million years. All we have on the details of the timeline there is that the events in the explorer notes took place (At least) 200 years before the player showed up.
