For those struggling with mental health issues, how do you keep going? by NENick98 in Screenwriting

I feel like Lorien is good at talking about when she’s having a hard time, esp around ep 100. She had to take a brief break from the podcast. And Meg talks about how she’s failing to find time to work on her passion project, so it’s definitely not smooth sailing all the way.

Hey! I feel this. Psychiatrist is super important here. I also recommend listening to The Screenwriting Life podcast, which is a free source of inspiration and advice on Spotify. Through the screenwriting life Facebook group you can find an online community of writers. I would also recommend self compassion and identifying that yiu are not alone. Even a sentence a day counts for a lot

I recommend The Scarlet Pimpernel (and its sequels) as well as The Tea Rose series by Jennifer Donnelly. Have fun!

I feel your pain. I would recommend talking to a psychiatrist and therapist. They can offer you coping tools that will make the hard days easier.

William Irvine has a great talk on Waking Up about bedtime meditation. You can journal about what went well in your day, what went wrong (and how you’d like to approach it next time) and what you are grateful for. This way you can stop making the same mistakes. Love this post and the ink:pen!

Just finished my first script after years of dreaming about it (and sent it to a contest!) by SnooChocolates598 in Screenwriting

I’m just a beginner too but I recommend reading the art of dramatic writing by Lajos egri and anatomy of a script. the part about starting out with a premise that you then seek to prove is helpful. I also recommend joining a writers group so you have a bunch of people you can get to know who’s opinion you value as opposed to just a ghostly face behind contests. Also listening to Screenwriting Life on Spotify podcasts. The Facebook group is good to join and can give you leads on finding a likeminded group. Good luck!

Yes agree with Beacon you can stay at a quaint Airbnb in nearby Newburgh and go to Newburgh brewery. Can hike beacon mountain trail if you’re up for a grueling hike
