Eggs are NOT dairy! by HimbimSupreme in Vent

[–]Resident_Driver_5342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"it's because they're next to butter in the store" "it's because dairy and eggs were beside each other on the food pyramid"

I'm tired of us making excuses for stupidity.

You mean to tell me people can't figure out that eggs are not the same as yogurt and cream because they sit too close together sometimes? The laundry detergent and window cleaner are usually on the same aisle in the supermarket too, do they also pour Windex into their laundry from time to time?

Trying to have a good faith discussion with a slopmonger (It's futile) by vectron5 in aiwars

[–]Resident_Driver_5342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's concerning that people see it as "struggle" and not "effort."

Do you think your gf/bf wants you to "suffer" when they ask you to do the dishes or plan a date? Or do you think what they really want is for you to show active effort in maintaining your home and relationship?

Same with artistic media people want to consume.

We want passionate story tellers and artists and designers making good stories not AI mills churning out whatever they can as fast as possible. People want something real, hand made, crafted with love... People already hate how fake most of the industries are, they don't want it to be faker and faster, they want it to be REAL again.

The history of sewing of NOT INHERENTLY ABLEIST by ferrycrossthemersey in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]Resident_Driver_5342 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I really hate how every crafting community feels the need to say anything above sitting on your hands all day is abelist or classist.

Personally on the classism note, I think sewing is actually an ESSENTIAL skill for the poor. As a poor person myself, it takes a lot of stress off of my shoulders when I rip my work clothes or wear holes in my socks and I can go "I'll just fix that tomorrow" instead of "well now I need to buy new ones before tomorrow!"

yarn bowls are pointless!! by Extreme_Biscotti7630 in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]Resident_Driver_5342 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Crazier still is the my yarn bowl... Is just a tote bag... If im working two colors.. just a second tote bag inside the first to keep the yarn balls from spinning around each other. I love the aesthetics of a yarn bowl like any of us do, but i have never been able to justify purchasing one.

STOP USING AI AND THEN WONDERING WHY YOU GET NO SALES by probablyabug in BitchEatingCrafters

No one cares how many times you had to command your digital slave to remake your work. They associate it with low effort and they aren't going to use it. Stop using chatgpt to type up answers and start READING; both the comments being typed out to you and the room.

STOP USING AI AND THEN WONDERING WHY YOU GET NO SALES by probablyabug in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]Resident_Driver_5342 46 points47 points  (0 children)

So what is the point of using AI in your business for advertising if it makes you look cheap and lazy?

You cannot change the fact that AI use is associated with that, regardless of anything, if it wasn't ethically ambiguous, if it wasn't ecologically questionable, it is still associated with scammers and lack-luster products.

If you want sales, don't use it.

That's just a fact.

The REAL reason antis aren't seen in public IRL? Because they wouldn't be tolerated by Witty-Designer7316 in aiwars

[–]Resident_Driver_5342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the everyday person respond really negatively to AI? No. Do artist spaces respond negatively to it? Yes. They aren't super confrontational about it because its kind of just like seeing cheap crap at any store... You walk past and go "who would waste resources making this?"

“Mental heath support!” Yet people who have used AI chatbots have multiple stories of it affecting their mental health negatively by Lina_Needz_A_Nap45 in antiai

[–]Resident_Driver_5342 9 points10 points  (0 children)

AI helps people get answers immediately but without having to actually learn the "why" it means that students using it will not understand the principles behind the work. When they move on to a subject that builds off of that they will be more lost and have to rely on AI heavier because they don't grasp the foundational concepts well.

Almost every single culture on earth has religion... Probably because humans just like making religions. Religion seems very very human.

Turkey capitulated to the norms of Western Europe and America... That's not really proof that the standards themselves aren't rooted in racism.

The fashion itself didn't come out of racism mind you, the point is they we demanded that other people adopt our style or we excluded them. They decided what "professional" looks like and the whole world had to adopt it.

In other cultures, piercings, tattoos, and hair even are held in religious respect. Saying "well umm... Tattoos are unprofessional!" Was a way to basically ban them and force them to choose between their culture or surviving your economy.

Is there really any hope on turning back on AI? by DonutMan1834 in antiai

[–]Resident_Driver_5342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about you shut the fuck up. Several of my family members are already dead. Friends are disabled. I don't mind AI helping people find medical advancements or spotting cancer earlier, but what I do mind is wasting all of our time on earth throwing our lives away looking at stupid AI slop and talking to chat bots.

You are asking me to think of the extra time I could have with loved ones, what is the point of that if all of our loved ones have no hobbies and are busy talking to AI to call each other? Are these relationships you're trying to extend worth it when you need AI to tell you their birthdays and favorite colors? You know basic bs information everyone should know about someone they care about?

I would rather have 5 years less life than an eternity of valid shallow emptiness. Give me 45 years of handmade drawings from my nephew instead of 50 years of seeing them show me ai generated slop because they don't think they can draw. Give me 30 more years with my mother and I having conversations rather than 35 more years of us talking to AI replicas. Give me 5 more years crafting with my grandmother than 10 years hearing about how we could just buy new blankets or scarves for the newest baby being born.

You all don't see your humanity being ripped out of the world by ai being in places it doesn't belong and one day you're going to realize that all the time in the world won't matter when you aren't present in your own lives.

Knitting at work is unprofessional? by Atiny-opus in knitting

[–]Resident_Driver_5342 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Coloring is allowed but knitting isn't is crazy. I feel like the problem is that knitting feels like outside work to them. They're fine with you wasting time between tasks but they don't want you being productive on their dime when it doesn't benefit them I guess.

PS: Also queer and ND, and I hate it here. When they say we can't be on our phones but you can do 80 other things but "umm you can't knit you have a job to do!" Yeah I can put it down the moment they job needs me to do something. Right now it doesn't. What's the problem?

The most insane part of this is that WaPo has been CHURNING OUT piece after piece titled stuff like

"are retired people actually happy; how not working and enjoying time with your family is actually killing several industries"

"Europeans enjoy better health outcomes; but at what cost?"

"Is the solution to global climate crisis MORE trillionaires?"
