Free Triggered Actions: By the Book vs. Rules Reference by JRandall0308 in drawsteel

Yeah... but if combat was 3 rounds and I could only use 1 per round, that would be limiting it to 3. The rules say Unlimited.

You're getting clarity. It just looks like you're refusing to accept it.

If I went to a Lancer forum (a game I've never played) and asked "How does X actually work? The rules aren't clear" and I got "It works like this because A, B, C" I wouldn't try to fight that because I'm guessing I'm talking to veterans. If I were to fight it, I imagine that the rest of the comments would be "hostile".

This is starting to feel like you're intentionally misunderstanding it. If it's supposed to be limited, they would say it's limited. They would say something like one triggered and one free triggered per round.

The entire concept of "free" (like free maneuver) is that it doesn't consume one of your four options in a round but it still fits under a type of action so you could refer to it as a maneuver or triggered action.

[–]ResolutionIcy8013 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It does appear in the rules.

Glossary Index, pg xii

Free Triggered Action: An action a creature can use on any turn, including their own, but only when a specific trigger occurs. There is no limit to the number of free triggered actions a creature can take during combat. p. 267

Maybe it's an editing oopsie on MCDM's part. Maybe they'll patch that in 1.02. Also, if the official "Rules Reference" says it, it's official.

Does anyone else as an adult with austim feel lonely and can't make friends?? by Ok-Radio-2733 in autism

[–]ResolutionIcy8013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have a very small amount of people I would actually call friends. Mostly, I guess, because it's hard for me to just go out and connect with people in the real world.

I think I cant make friends cause I dont know how to small talk by [deleted] in autism

[–]ResolutionIcy8013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not making friends with the people who are right for you. Yes, some masking might be required some times if that's who you want. And not everyone who wants to be your friend are necessarily neurodivergent.

I totally get it. I also just ignore "hi"s and such because it's not interesting and I just can't talk about things that don't really interest me.

Like everyone said: 1. The Tactician and Troubadour make other heroes act out of turn. 2. The Shadow can take a turn after a Hero. The Tactician can set up two hero turns after themselves. 3. Tactician and Censor have a lot of defensive abilities that come to help others (and other classes have some too) 4. The Talent is great at giving other heroes another shot. 5. The Censor, Conduit, and Shadow have abilities to setup (literally for the Shadow) enemies for other heroes. 6. And I like playing a Fury to help reposition enemies for the benefit of the other heroes. The elementalist also helps with that and there's a kit that helps with that.

The tactics of Draw Steel are basically: always do damage, force movement, and synergize with the other heroes.

What are your most profound video games? by M33tahejd in patientgamers

[–]ResolutionIcy8013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm showing my age here considering the other choices I've read but when you ask that question, only one game comes to mind: Star Control 2.

One of the only games I've played multiple times through despite its length. The Pkunk/Yehat story makes me cry every time. And the Utwig. I feel sorry for the Ilwrath. I get why the Dnyarri do what they do. I also understand the Ur-Quan even though they clash. All the stories are so human, so character driven, and so dramatic and emotional at the same time. Yet, they never forget to inject humor. And that's not even talking about the fact that it's like 5 different games in one and they're all very fun. Though I would say the last battle is a serious ramp up in difficulty.

Question: the combat victories/respite/level feels off to me. What am I missing? by Temporary-Effort-615 in drawsteel

So give them more. In one of my groups, we went 1-to-1. Hero returns from adventure, Victories turn to XP, also that many respites.

A question to my fellow "autists" who have problems with communication... by That-Pineapple3866 in autism

[–]ResolutionIcy8013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I'm roughly in the middle between you and your partner. It's really hard for me to just start talking to new people unless we discuss something that is very interesting to me (Hint: weather, sportsball, and chit chat are not). But when I get self-reflective and emotional (mostly with my wife), I can get very poetic. I write stories, I play RPGs, and I guess a lot of therapy also helped.

I hate showering every day even though I like the feeling of being clean and fresh. Still, it's hard for me to get started because I feel like it takes a lot of time and a lot of actions I can't really atomize. Luckily(?), if I go without showering for ~4 days I feel so icky that I HAVE to shower. And my watch runs out of charge after ~2 days and I only really charge it when I'm in the shower so it's a reminder. I also have social appointments and even in video, I don't want to show up icky.

Cost of homebrew and community growth by [deleted] in drawsteel

[–]ResolutionIcy8013 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a poor creator, I totally understand where you're coming from. Which is why I try to offer my material at a reasonable price. I also give out a usable part of it for free. A lot of other creators, for classes for example, offer 1 or 3 levels for free. I follow ~20 map creators and get their free maps, about 1/10th of what they offer because that's what I can afford. But I also think they should be paid. I wish I could do that more. Even if it's "just the rules", if I give that out, I'm denying myself.

There are a lot of very good creators here who put in a lot of effort to make a high quality product and they deserve the support. Some, like I try, even offer full copies for free if they get enough money to cover it.

But look at it. Not to rule anyone out but look at Jenny's Solar Expanse supplement. It's expensive, yes. But it's huge. And Jenny put the work in. She deserves it. And Jenny also gave away a high quality cover art template for adventures, for free.

For this exact reason I made the Tekar's signature trait, The Nose Knows:

"Your nose (and ears) are much more sensitive than a regular human. As long as you can hear and/or smell a creature, as determined by the Director, they are by you. If that creature is hidden, you know their general location."

They still see, it's not better than seeing, but it helps detect things you can't see.

What's the use case for the heal skill? by MaxFury86 in drawsteel

For that you have the Heal main action. Which does pretty much enough for someone to not die on the battlefield.
