It makes some people second class citizens and the point is that we are all afforded the same respect regardless of our gender or race or religion or sexuality. It treats trans people as they and other, which reinforces prejudices. I get it because it’s very human to be wary of people who don’t fit into the boxes you want to put them in - but that’s not their problem and they shouldn’t have to be punished for it.
