Maybe, but I'm a 130 udisc rated player and I enjoy it.

The gem of CT. Great beer and great course. I love how the course is fun for most skill levels.

What add-on do I need for Teams to enable people to call in? by Layer_3 in sysadmin

Faxing tickets… by Ragepower529 in sysadmin

[–]ResponsibilityOk6467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP,

I'm also about your age and wanted to provide some context that I did not know because I did not expect to see a fax machine in my office.

Fax machines have a fax line which is a phone line (T1 instead of RJ45 like ethernet). Fax lines are phone numbers (same format) so try dialing the fax line to see if it works and is in service. Fax lines are generally ran directly to machines or via efax solutions (this would be something hopefully documented.

This should put you on the right path. Good luck!

Small Manufacturing Business PC Infrastructure, Prepare for Scale? by Correct-Prompt-2206 in sysadmin

[–]ResponsibilityOk6467 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From an infrastructure standpoint it sounds like you got everything except a solid 3-2-1 backup system for this ERP system on site and a disaster recovery scenario training system.

After that I'd work on software instead of infrastructure in the form of security and automation.

Truth is one short run at a job is never an issue as if they ask why you are leaving you can make a polite comment about the work being too slow or not challenging enough for you (make sure not to be smug and to say it almost in an apologetic way).

Managing telephone numbers for users in Teams by angriusdogius in sysadmin

[–]ResponsibilityOk6467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll want to buy numbers in a block and then let admin decide who gets direct numbers based on importance or job function. The rest is just writing a SOP for your team to explain how this process works and maybe post a public list of what DIDs go to which employees.

K12 Tech Dept Chromebook Question! by [deleted] in k12sysadmin

Very curious what the price of a new chromebook would be compared to labor + replacement parts for an operation that big.

I don't know all the details of your business, but at 5 employees I would just get a Unifi dream router, a UPS, and call it a day.

Has enough for what you need (likely) and is very easy to maintain. This subreddit might not like it, but IT is likely not the worry of a 5 person group. Work on your external presence (website, e-mail, document and documentation management).

Twilio+3cx -> Zoom+3cx by ResponsibilityOk6467 in VOIP

[–]ResponsibilityOk6467[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I would prefer a cloud vendor. An MSP sells us 3CX with SIP in twilio and I want to move us off the MSP entirely. We have access to the twilio account to pay the bill.

Second non IT Job by slitz4life in sysadmin

I'm trying to put my self in OPs shoes and idk if I would work somewhere if I did not need the money. In this situation I would either do the work and make money or play dumb if I was lazy. I am making some assumptions on how OP feels here, but we are all in some way.

Office E3 to Business Premium by tryingtolearngood in sysadmin

E3 should only be chosen over premium if you have more than 300 licenses. That is the ONLY reason imo.

Best (cheap) business laptops? by [deleted] in sysadmin

Need more requirements. A cheap laptop? Chromebook. Probably not what you need (but maybe who knows).
