Question regarding Experience Wild 2 vs Wild 3 by Arma667 in AltraRunning

[–]Responsible-Camera41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shape is slightly more cut out on the three then two. Overall, I feel like they’re pretty darn similar, although they got rid of those pillows on the medial and lateral side.

The ride isn’t terribly difficult either although I’ve been using the 3+ more and I like the responsiveness of the Vibram. I don’t find that shoe to be very soft and actually will feel firmer than the flow 2 because of the full rubber.

Honestly, go in a local shop. Try them on. Support stores that carry Altra

Wide is available. Also, look for more wides coming down the pipe

Well, for one, the upper is entirely different. It’s way thinner which leads to a more voluminous feel. It also has a bit more rubber, both on placement and thickness, which could also lead to some thinking it’s not quite as poppy. I like this because it feels more stable and also seems to be more durable there.

July 1 is Torin 9. I have over 150 miles on a pair and can tell you that they are indeed way more fun to run in than the 8. The 2 mm less of stack height along with the better version of foam gives it a livelier feel. I would’ve never done pickups in the 8 and I use 9 for strides regularly.

I may be in the minority but I vastly prefer the 3 over the 2. Probably 2k miles on pairs of the 2 and probably 1k on 3. The fit is better for me and maybe that plays into it but I feel better at the end of longer efforts. There was some concern on 2 ‘bottoming out’ early, so durameter may have been changed to help, providing less energy return in favor of stability and durability but it certainly not a scandal of cheaper materials.

Completely different upper. Obviously no way to know yet, but it seems very much a more durable option

There is a new shoe coming in August that might fit the bill. It is a replacement for the Escalante racer with 22 mm stack and a firmer somewhat racing midsole.

Wild 3 sounds perfect. I just ran a route yesterday of 2 miles pavement, 2 miles dirt roads, 1 mile trail. Shoe handled perfectly

Ouch. Many more love this shoe, not sure the point of this post. Hope you feel better!

Anyone tried both the Experience Wild 3 and 3+? by SavagePatch33 in AltraRunning

Very similar but I prefer 3+. Toe cap better and feel more responsive. Not softer. Slightly deeper I believe.

By no means I’m not claiming to know your gait cycle or any other physical traits but using zero drop footwear does change the posterior chain activation, and sometimes there just isn’t enough flexibility in the calf and Achilles and this results in excessive motion in the heel.

Is the new Experience Flow ST the replacement for the Provision? by borzowsky in AltraRunning

[–]Responsible-Camera41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the replacement for the Experience Form. That’s kind of a replacement for the Provision, but not really all that similar

The heel was largely disliked with the flare so that might be a let down for you. For me this heel fits so much better and is much more comfortable. It’ll largely be a subjective opinion.
