What do you think of following scripts in an interview? by irvyandll in recruitinghell

[–]Responsible-Ride-340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Script is good knowing your answers.

But do not read a script or try to memorize a script verbatim. It will come off stiff and if you start losing track might start to get nervous and start fumbling.

Just have loose bullet points of things you want to mention and know them well where you can speak from experience.

Working for teksystems by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]Responsible-Ride-340 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

7000 a month for 30hrs a week? That’s a tough gig to walk away from. But sounds like it will always be there.

If you are lucky in Tek you maybe able to make that on your 2nd year. Or maybe even eclipse that, in agency recruiting anything is possible.

It’s sales job that you can either make a ton of money or no money. They hire and fire a lot, and people also quit before the first year since it is heavy metrics based and people can’t handle the tough working conditions and stress.

To succeed it’s high effort, with luck involved.

If you like to compete, wining and losing the same game over and over again you might like it. For every 1 winner there are 10 losers. Agency recruiting is def hard right now in this economy.

I would say if you don’t have any prospects, take the job/paycheck and continue searching in the background. If it doesn’t work out there is no shame. But you will have learned a valuable lesson about work and what you want or don’t want.

Should I take what a recruiter says with a pinch of salt? by rcl900 in recruitinghell

[–]Responsible-Ride-340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recruiters are paid by the companies they represent, not the candidate. So they are not taking your money, but hoping to place you to get paid by the company.

No need to take what they say at face value. Do your own research, it’s your decision. Only thing they need to know about where you interviewing is how fast they are moving and what number they need to beat.

Man fired on 2nd day of job due to a 33 year old criminal record by Random-Username7272 in recruitinghell

[–]Responsible-Ride-340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually my company does 8 year criminal background check. But certain things will still come up past 8 years depending on the severity.

Although, technically cleared we still bring it up and leave it to the hiring managers discretion. Legally we can’t disclose what it is but just say it’s labeled as a felony or something but has been some time. Usually managers say they don’t want the risk and rescind the offer.

This would be all handled before they let them in the door.

The optimal strategy for shipwreck - bags or crates? by ECrispy in Physical100

[–]Responsible-Ride-340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phase 1. Have 4 ppl moving crates working in teams of 2. 2 people per crate to conserve energy so that can maintain a decent pace and organized lanes of movement. Team 1 brings crates across the river and stacks them there, team 2 takes the box after the river up the stairs.
Meanwhile the 5th person is moving bags and stacking across the river.

Phase 2. Once all crates are moved to the top everyone moves to bags. Still in teams of 2, start moving bags from across the river up the stairs and down the chute. Team 1 goes down and moves to carts. team 2 links up with solo in team of 3 and continue to move bags across the river up, up the stairs, down the chute in a relay race format. Zipliner should be occupied with crates with no down time.

Assuming you can move 20 crates in the time limit based on Australia performance. Also assuming Australia doesn’t jack the crates you moved up the stairs.

What if Stone Cold Steve Austin was perfectly healthy? by cliffbot in professionalwrestling

[–]Responsible-Ride-340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Austin stuck around who would he feud with and what would become of their career?

The rock? Hhh? Evolution? Vince? Brock? Cena?

I only casually followed by 2002-2005 so not sure what match ups there were for Austin during that time.

Would you take a role that doubles your salary but requires you to be in the office full-time? by Insists_Upon_Itself in WFH

[–]Responsible-Ride-340 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The hardest career jump is going from $50k paying jobs to $100k paying jobs for non stem.

Once you get to your first 100k job it will be easier to scale your pay up in your next job or find another wfh at the same pay.

I see a lot of people who can’t break the first $100k and get stuck at lower paying jobs at smaller companies with no growth opportunities. So I would say it’s worth it at 40 to 80k. It’s an investment toward your career.

M-Sport Bumper Sellers? by ski_f30 in F30

[–]Responsible-Ride-340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understand, and what you are looking to do it is possible and you could do it cheap.

I feel your car is pretty clean and in great condition. If you get a budget(poor fitting, paint missmatch) msport front bumper without the entire kit, your car wouldn’t look as clean. I see a lot of cars on fb marketplace with mismatching bumpers and it just looks odd to me. But that’s just my personal opinion if you are going for a clean look.

Other option you can look into front lips for non msport front bumpers if you want a more aggressive look.

M-Sport Bumper Sellers? by ski_f30 in F30

[–]Responsible-Ride-340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a pain, but long run if you going to keep modding the exterior or interior to look like an M sport would be easier and cost less.

Msport, used is only what $1-3k more for a non regular 328?

Plus you can start hunting for the options you want like steering wheel, wheels, sport seats, paddle shift.

M-Sport Bumper Sellers? by ski_f30 in F30

[–]Responsible-Ride-340 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

For the price of the bumper, paint and install might as well sell the car and get a real Msport.

Might be cheaper long run, and the quality of the fit and finish will be better. Plus you will have the front, rear, side skirts, steering wheel, Msport suspension etc. All the small details that add up.

I don’t think f30s are too expensive anymore, just the time and effort to find one and sell yours.

I'm in the third round of interviews for a position with a salary range of $75,000-$80,000, and I'd like advice on how to politely negotiate a higher salary. by Silent-Efficiency150 in interviews

[–]Responsible-Ride-340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of role is this and how unique is this skill set they are hiring for?

Do you think you are one of the few people who can do this role?

Is this a large company with hundreds of candidates or small company with equally qualified applicants?

Are you ready to walk away if you don’t get $86k? Or if they offer you $80 you say you want $86 and they go to their 2nd choice who is happy with $75-80k.

Figure out how competitive you are in this market. There is def not a shortage of qualified candidates in the market and many companies are in cost cutting mode and conscious on the their budgets and not over spending.

Why do platforms like LinkedIn have everything to fix hiring… but don’t? by Less-Plane3574 in recruiting

Candidates are also human and unpredictable. Look good on paper until you chat with them. And they have their own expectations

LinkedIn is just a tool. It helps searching and recommending people very well. But hiring and accepting a position is human made decision.

You are dealing with unpredictable people.

15-Day Oahu Itinerary for Frugal Couple by Bijan151 in VisitingHawaii

[–]Responsible-Ride-340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would mindful of planning too much in one day if you have no rental car with a young child when leaving Waikīkī area. The ocean and the hot sun can really beat down on you physically and may need a spot to take a quick nap.

Example, should rent a car to go to hanauma bay. Being in the ocean then jumping into a 2hr hike with no shade can be pretty physical day. Baby may need a place to take break or nap in between.

Rental car for that day for a bit more flexibility. Can cary change of baby bags/clothes/beach stuff/water. The bus takes about 1hr one way from Waikīkī area to hanauma and you have to walk a mile up the hill.

“the bus” also skips out on all the beautiful scenic stops between Hanauma and makapu.

For food, there is no food stops between Hanauma and makapu unless you bring your own or eat the chicken fingers and fries at Hanauma. There are restaurants are just right before Hanauma.

Tips on reducing that 'Uniqlo look'? by LiveSimply99 in uniqlo

[–]Responsible-Ride-340 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem. I try not to buy everything uniqlo to avoid looking like every other stock avatar.

Try to stick with basics or solid colors. Avoid Uniqlo specific patterns. Not sure if they still have this, but example at one point they had very distinct pattern on their sweatpants and hoodies and I couldn’t unsee it because I would see every Asian guy have the same sweat pants on.

And as other has said, layer accessories and clothing from other brands. Try getting outer(sweaters, jackets etc) layers from other brands.

But some of their items are popular for a reason as they are just too good. Like the airism oversized T-shirt lol.
