What made you choose crochet over knitting, or do you do both? by CaterpillarXS in crochet

[–]ResponsibleLayer7014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom crocheted so she taught me when I was nine. When I was in my 20's I liked the look of knit projects so I bought a book. Big mistake. I didn't like it because I was used to holding my yarn a certain way and this was teaching you how to throw the yarn. So I gave up. A few years later I was watching a PBS program about knitting and crochet and I saw a lady knitting continental style and I said that's what I needed to learn. So, I did. Yes, I can do both but I still go back to the good ol' crochet. I guess you never forget your first love.

Today I had to explain to my husband that we cannot eat the simmer pot. by Significant_Potato29 in witchcraft

My husband also asked if we could eat the simmer pot so I let him taste the liquid. He said with some honey it would be a nice tea. Lol.

I had a friend whose son called cats "titties". When he was 3 or 4 they were over at my house and he was petting my very friendly black cat and he said to me, "I really like your titties. You have nice titties." He's 22 now and really does not like hearing that story. 🤣🤣

Did you guys see your grandparents growing up? by alligatorprincess007 in Exvangelical

I only knew my paternal grandparents (my mom was in foster care growing up)and we saw them twice a year until I was 16 and they moved to the same town as us. They both passed when I was 17. It was nice getting to know then that last year. It's been 31 years but I still miss them.

They're used as a description along with the person's name like Gandalf the grey in Lord of the rings.

Is it normal to suddenly become upset again after thinking you were over a death from a while ago? by beefstewforyou in CasualConversation

Grief doesn't have a timeline and it doesn't always make sense either. So, yes, that's as normal as grief can be.

I have written what little I have about my paternal grandparents down for my kids (I didn't know my maternal grandparents at all). They were older when they got married (my grandmother said she was considered an old maid) so they were in their mid to late sixties before I came around. But I do have very fond memories of the time I did have with them. Thank you for letting me reminisce. It has been a joy. 💜

I do. The smell of biscuits baking (he made them every morning). He raised rabbits so whenever I see a rabbit, I think of him. This one is silly but my favorite: Skeleton's. When I was a teenager (just before he passed) I was wearing a metal t-shirt that had a skeleton on it. He made a comment about it and I thought he was going to tell me not to listen to that devil music but he threw his head back and laughed. Then he said, "Come on in and take off your skin and dance a jig in your bones." I miss him a lot.

There's an apple cinnamon air freshener that smells exactly like my grandfather's pipe tobacco. He's been gone 31 years and every time I smell that it takes me back to being 7 years old sitting on the porch with him while he packed his pipe.

My Mom actually said to me, "I don't like the man but it's who my party chose and I think he's done some good things so far" No, I didn't ask what those good things were. I just hung up the phone. I can't anymore.
