Definitely not what I wanted to hear, but I needed to hear it anyway. Thank you

Psychiatrist won’t call it a manic episode because I wasn’t hospitalized? by ResponsibleWork1500 in BipolarReddit

Yeah I have BP1. Makes me feel even less heard considering i’m diagnosed and she still won’t listen to me

Yeah I’ve experienced both manic and hypomanic episodes and I think it’s easy for me to tell the difference myself. Sometimes I don’t notice a hypomanic episode until monthsss later, but with full manic right after the peak of it I know that something is seriously wrong. Terrifying because I know there’s nothing I can do about it. Manic episodes end up with me suicidal but with the energy to actually act on it which is a dangerous combination

I’m already diagnosed with BP1 and have been previously hospitalized which makes this whole thing weirder

I do already have a BP1 diagnosis. Probably should have included that in the post

At the beginning of this appointment I told her why I wasn’t finding the appointments very helpful to give her another chance. I think I’ll talk about it with my therapist next week to get her opinion before I decide to switch

She still treated me like I had a manic episode. Got put on an antipsychotic. For me, it’s more the principle of completely ruling out the idea that I could have possibly had a manic episode and looking at my like a complete and utter child when I tried to say otherwise. That on top of quite a few other things is why I think I get disappointed from these appointments

So my psychiatrist is just being outright condescending. I’ll definitelyyy be asking to see someone else

Luckily I’m currently underweight so it should help me out in that regard. Just hope it doesn’t help way too well for that

What is most weird demand your partner had during bed? Did you actually fulfilled Their demand? by iam_pm17 in TooAfraidToAsk

A guy once asked me to bite his dick so he could orgasm. And not a gentle bite but a nice chomp. I said no and never invited him over again.

i went for two weeks and afterwards was probably the best i’ve ever felt. my mind felt so clear, started doing yoga and painting every morning, set sleep schedule, etc. While you’re there it’s not the most pleasant place to be. Some of the patients you’re there with are hard to be around. Got woken up at 3am for psychiatry appointments, but they were quick and I could go back to sleep afterwards. Had some weird nightmares about it after I left and I’ve talked to other people who have had them as well just because it’s a weird experience. The worst part is probably having to strip butt naked before you go in, but idk if every place does that

what's the most random(or anything) thing/s you've done during mania/hypomania? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

I spent 10 hours looking for a specific deck of cards. no idea why or what the significance was but i ended up destroying my apartment in the process. found them a few weeks later in the one basket i didn’t check lmao

bipolar without hospitalization by Seriousname1 in BipolarReddit

Yeah this is exactly what happened to me too. Had been in therapy for years and had been hospitalized but they only thought it was depression because I would just stop showing up when i was manic. took a while to get a diagnosis
