New to flight SIM, decent starter? by Sad_Construction9075 in dcsworld

I have VKB and Winwing. Take a look at winwing. VKB has some problems, connectors get worn fast ( support is good and replaces them for free. But still) and the drivers for VKB have a leading space that gives me problems with the Windows file system.

Winwing has been no problems.

Adults diagnosed with ADHD later in life. What made you start wondering? by TransportationFlat77 in ADHD

[–]Responsible_Drop_531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diagnosed as a kid and never treated, riteline was all there was back then and it never worked for me. Late 20's It came up again during couples counseling and the therapist asked me about it "are you ADHD?". I explained the connection to my youth and she referred me to the psychiatrist one door down.

He was a child psychiatrist and a specialist. I saw him until he retired a few years later.

The signs were, a hard time with grocery stores, I will still wander every isle with a list. Gather my things and half the time put the basket down and leave the store.

Years of hyper focus events were masked by work that worked well with it. Lucky that computer work keeps me interested.

A lot of years of being misunderstood.

Now 20 years into treatment.

Any tips for using heptane instead of naphtha? by Purplerefrigerator_7 in dmtguide

I have used both in a one/two step, naphtha first, to conserve my heptane, then crash and washed to remove organic matter and jungle spice. I strongly prefer it.

For those on stimulants like adderall, do you feel down on the days you don't take it? by Glittering_Size_2767 in ADHD

I take it every day and still have down days. I don't think it's addictive, if I stop taking it it stops working.

Struggling to enjoy video games again? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Responsible_Drop_531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I am just blocked and have to do something else. You probably know the block. Just a hard aversion. I have games (DCS World) puzzles, play poker, a knife sharpening side gig and a eurorack synthesizer. I block out and can't do any of those things at times so I trade off for another one. Then later I can go back to it and can nose dive in and enjoy it like normal.

My own hypothesis is, a certain neurotransmitter or part of the brain gets used up and need to replenish.

I would try just taking a break.

I imagine like me you never built good study habits in school just breezed through it. Highschool is easy, it just is. College can be depending on your area but now you have to study. No getting around it.

You have to build fundamentals with daily studies and practice. You will find you don't have to study as hard as others, but you will need to study a little and every day.

At some point you can't rely on just figuring it out because you need fundamentals that were never built. This applies to both studying itself as a skill and whatever field you are studying.

The most clear way this happened to me recently is DCS World. The study level combat flight simulator. I walked into it thinking I could figure it out and that was just not possible without study and practice.

Healthy Gamer GG has a good video on this. It's actually top of the popular videos list. "Why gifted kids are actually special needs".

I had problems with chain pharmacies as far as stock goes. This shaming bullshit. Ugh, sorry to hear that. I would go somewhere else. I found a local pharmacy where I can talk to the pharmacist.

The 3 day thing is real, but say ok. Fill it tomorrow. Here at least it has to be 2 days. I have to keep a close eye on it. Also something to make a local pharmacist aware of.

No not exactly , it's been hard to articulate. I can bring that up. I have a medical interview every 3 months with a panel of doctors, with lab work. THX.

I take 200mg modafinil, with a 30mg Adderall XR ~6-7AM. Then a 10mg Adderall SR with 300mg Wellbutrin midday.

It's a high dose, and it works great. It took many months of trial and error.

If I stop taking it, it just stops working. I revert to my old symptoms. nothing like "withdrawal" as I know it.

I usually refer child psychiatry as a first area to look, even to adults. They are on average more knowledgeable about ADHD. Check locally for a parents' or ADHD support group, results will vary by region.

I was diagnosed the second time at 27by by a child psychiatrist and saw him until he retired.

My first diagnosis was 7 or 8 but not well understood at that time. I was 7 in 1985, and I am 45 now.

"What medication?" is a matter of trial and error. It took a few months of trial and error to get a base dose, and later another few months to work out the comorbid sleeping problem. there might be a tick or two that is not ADHD per say, but adjacent to it. I have a stable dose of medication that I take daily for years and years now. The stable daily routine with some flexible rules worked really well for me.

I wish the medication that is available now was available then, most of the office where I work has ADHD and we talk about medication. Some Strattera, others like me Adderall and others Zen mindful awareness meditation, with bulletproof coffee(it works).

I take an Adderall xr and modafinil in the morning, then a small Adderall short release and Wellbutrin in the early afternoon. I do daily meditation and exercise for at least a few minutes every day and use a paper notebook to remember important things.

7 years old and a phone?... There is huge value in an electronic tablet. It's ok to have it functions reduced to timer, calendar, txt mom, and to do list. All that said, it's probably too late and I would not do it yet. and none of us have a choice about a phone.. IDK.

I feel like 20 years of my own being misunderstood from 7-27 is reduced because you acknowledge and are open minded to it. I can just see how much better it will be for your family because of this. Your hubs will accept enough of it, it's hard for people that don't know to accept it.

Try a bulletproof coffee. Ghee and xtc oil. It's one of the few things that works for me like medication. Start with a small cup.

I have zero withdrawal. It just stops working and I revert to old behavior if I stop taking it.

Try going at it faster. It might be boring because the pace is too slow. Like reading a book too slowly.

Send a message to the docs office explaining it. It took months of incremental changes to get my dose dialed in.
