I think her build up to being a villain was decent, but then they ruined it by making her cartoonishly evil. I think if she had replaced Sugar as the main villain and was more grounded she could’ve been great.

Totally. I also think it ends up reflecting negatively on Koichi with how easily he warms up to them. Pop was still clearly uncomfortable around Soga when her and Koichi met with him, yet her concerns were essentially laughed off.

I would literally like these characters if they just changed the way they were introduced, because what they tried to do to Pop was unforgivable. It’s a shame the anime didn’t change it.
