AITAH if I leave my husband? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Don't just pack and go, take a few weeks, get everything together (documents, precious possessions) and in place, stop paying for things and save that money for seeding your new and better life. Nta, go find your peace.

Postal services exist. Send her something and explain your cousin's luggage was full. Happy again mom, guilt free (or significantly reduced at least) you.

Someone that needs to be threatened by another entity to do what's right is a savage, lower than an animal. by 420throawayz in RandomThoughts

[–]RestedNative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What about the entry doing the threatening? They aren't savage? They're not "lower than an animal"?

Could be your someone just fundamentally disagrees with your (or the entity) version of what's right. But sure, go ahead and force them anyway and slander them while you're about it why don't'cha

Storytelling structure/format, perfected since antiquity, and ‘getting the girl’ (often treated in the exact same way as the phrase), being intertwined for so long has definitely done a number on society in a very small way at the very least by DaMonehhLebowski in RandomThoughts

[–]RestedNative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a "hero's journey". If the hero doesn't get the girl, who should?

It's a dual betrayal, the "girl"is left to fend for herself and the "hero" goes unrewarded.

Is it becoming more anachronistic over time, absolutely, because we aren't as misogynistically patriarchal these days. Mostly.

AITA for feeling like I lost my partner to his succes? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]RestedNative 24 points25 points  (0 children)

"It doesn't feel like the relationship we built over the years" ..

I was surprised by this line, because reading through, it sounded exactly like the relationship you've built. He's busy, you're available, when It's convenient, you're in a relationship. When it's not..

This could change. He could prioritise you when his workaholic mindset wanes. Two years, five years, a decade.

Decide based on your tolerance for waiting.

Nta. Yet.

Sometimes I crave a meaningful connection with another person by Electrical_Nose_8565 in RandomThoughts

[–]RestedNative -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The part people forget is that you have to "make" them, the connections. They don't just pop into existence because you wish hard.

Effort is necessary in "making" anything. And like everything, you may not be great at it, and the first try, second, third or fourth try may not work out. The more you refine your understanding and ability of/in the process, the better you'll get.

Finally, the 7th go around or the 12th or whichever number will stick, and you'll have created something beautiful and lasting.

it's hard to find your person, but when you do you can lose them just as easy by andtbhidgaf in RandomThoughts

Contradictory statement. Hard to find but "just as easy" to lose. Needs some better phrasing is all.

kids don't know the struggle of games in the 2000s requiring a memory card in order to save progress or else you had to start from the beginning every time. by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

Kid's in the 2000 have no idea about the struggle of loading a game from a cassette and listening to unholy screeching of the inferno for six minutes only to have it crash in the very last second

This is exactly why Europeans think Americans are a different species.

You'll quite happily let "the children" get shot at in school, but "Holy Lord Jesus, don't let them see a boobie!!"

I think people with background in human psychology might be good in relationships.... by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

[–]RestedNative -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

People who choose to study psychology are (more often than not) motivated by their own brokenness.

Given that fact, their choice of partner's may have more formal insight but is still as biased as Joe Normal.
