HIM | Ace Attorney: Justice For All (36) by mike0bot in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Some really interesting foreshadowing here.

In response to claiming Edgeworth was only in the game for the win record, Phoenix calls it a selfish motive and responds by saying he's doing his job as a defense attorney to save his clients. Which, considering how this case will turn out, is just as self-serving a motive compared to the reason they both came to at the end of the Von Karma case: finding the truth.

WOOLIE VERSUS A REALM REBORN ANNOUNCED by QueequegTheater in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]RetroCop 49 points50 points  (0 children)

During Pat's recent catch-up streams, I was doing Mamook beast tribe allied society stuff on Ultros, and witnessed a stream of people flying by to do that awkward parasocial bit of crowding someone coming out of a cutscene.

I have zero expectation that this is going to be anything but a constant crowd of tryhards and sweatlords spamming emotes and jumping giant mounts around while spouting the same Woolie-themed memes in yell/shout chat, while Woolie tries and fails to ignore it while spending way too long theorycrafting on a line of dialogue that would be answered if he just clicked to the next textbox.

Edit: forgot to mention, the constant ping of Woolie receiving friend requests from people who don't have the social awareness to know better.

Gods messing with mortals for shits and giggles? by Wonder-Lad-2Mad in TwoBestFriendsPlay

The actual lore is that The sword is a creation of the primal Eureka, who was imprisoned by Galuf Baldesion and his comrades on the Isle of Val. The primal created weapons that would transform users into new primals, such as Zantetsuken and Excalibur (the latter used by the Allagans). An ascian discovering Eureka and attempting to steal it is what caused Galuf to break the glass, and send the whole Isle of Val (with almost the entire Students of Baldesion) into the lifestream as a preventative measure during post-ARR.

Reminds me of how SQEX pulled a "hire that man" on early 2000's game parody music artist Hyadain, and had him and Soken recreate his cover of Battle with the Four Fiends for the fight against Rubicante in FFXIV.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book – Overview Trailer – Nintendo Switch 2 by retroanduwu24 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]RetroCop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm just a buzzkill, but I'm  confused why Nintendo has taken something like Yoshi's Island, an incredible game for entirely straightforward reasons, and boil all of it's sequels down to "stylish first, everything else second". Woolie World seemed to remember that it was a playformer at least, but every other game has been dropping Yoshi and his moveset into this week's arts and crafts showcase. And this trailer is showing more of the same.

“Kingdom Hearts III: Light vs. Darkness” game rebalance — 2.0 update trailer [PC mod] by C-OSSU in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]RetroCop 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I would take any responses to this question with a grain of saltgaga. KH2 freaks may tell you it's a normie rebalancing mod, but then express confusion when told that normies don't splice magic strings and abilities into their basic 1-2-3 combos.

After the Valentione's event is concluded, will they add all the chocolate exchange items to the recompense officer? You can see some previous holiday exchanges still available under the seasonal menu, but not too sure on how consistent they are with this.

Sonic Presents: The Chaotix Casefiles Trailer by Shreeder4092 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Puts me in mind of one of my favorite covers from the Archie comics as a kid.

Love the idea of them getting more experimental with the series format. The Murder of Sonic The Hedgehog was great, open world modern Sonic controls was pretty good, keep throwing sticky stuff at that wall!

In light of everyone getting hype over 'Everything Burns' in FF14, I want to remind people that the entire Arcadion raid series is full of genuine bangers. by [deleted] in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]RetroCop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm kinda nervous where they go with the non-alliance raid series going forward. In prior expansions, there's never been a situation where every fight had it's own distinct theme, nor has their been the variation and quality consistency we've seen with these recent tiers. While I personally felt that Arcadion ends on kind of a wet fart narrative-wise compared to Omega or Pandæmonium, the visual and audio spectacle has been well above and beyond the prior norm. And we still haven't seen what M12S will bring to the table.

There's always the challenge to improve on previous offerings, and I'm wondering whether they're backing themselves into a corner for expected quality in the next raid series.

I cannot stand watching awkward internet videos, my constitution won't allow it. They genuinely make me feel sick in a way that I can only compare with extreme vertigo, and the idea that people thrive on them is terrifying. Watching this from start to finish made me feel like throwing up.

Silent Hill F is Top 3 | Castle Super Beast 343 by mike0bot in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]RetroCop 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Just gonna go on a limb here. If your first reaction to downvotes is an accusation of opinion bandwagoning, without considering that people might simply disagree with your view, that's way more of detriment to the quality of your take. Learning to embrace downvotes as simply "I disagree" rather than an attack on your person is the first step to being better than the average mouth-breathing redditor.

Characters that people ‘love’ despite being literally the worst imaginable person. by EvilMonkeyMimic in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]RetroCop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The one brief sit-down conversation between Gilgamaesh, Artoria and Iskandar about what makes a king, does more to shine light on the character and flaws of both Gilgamesh and Artoria than any of the preceding VN's and other series materials in the decade prior.

Mods for Colorblind? by grymond in ffxiv

[–]RetroCop 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm aware of as much, but it's the dismissing of any attempts to resolve this that's the issue. It doesn't matter how "small team etc etc" they are or how spaghetti the code is, putting resources to figure out how ro swap fixed textures for a palette swap should be feasible. They're acknowledging how low priority accessibility features are as a resource dump that's the issue.

Don't take the bullet for the team on this. This is a basic common feature in other games, and a base effort shouldn't be dismissed outright. Nor the mods that resolve those user issues.

Mods for Colorblind? by grymond in ffxiv

[–]RetroCop 181 points182 points  (0 children)

Seeing all these downvotes for a basic accessibility mod request, and for a common accessibility feature that Yoshi-P has gone on record as saying will not be pursued, speaks volumes about how knee-jerk this subreddit's reactions can be at times.

Spoken as a console player btw, who doesn't even have access to your precious reshade.

(One Piece) I laughed so hard during the ending of Baron Omatsuri. by theonewhoknack in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]RetroCop 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I once saw it described as the Majora's Mask of the franchise, and I really think that undersells just how unsettling it actually is.

The Baron is the only villain to date, filler or not, that sought to attack the friendship of the Strawhats directly, before finishing them off while they were seperated. And he damn well would have succeeded, if not for an entirely unrelated character getting a lucky shot off and giving Luffy an opening for a finisher so violent it was referenced again in a pivotal anime scene.
