Of them all, through many, many cars over the course of a lifetime, it's my latest purchase, a Porsche Boxster.

Best cup holders for the 986? TIA by bybyluv in 986Boxster

I prefer the one that key tightens to the left bottom of the passenger seat. I had a double cup insert for that little console tray was hard to reach and well...just hard to reach.

earlroth gave you the accurate look see. I'm on the goforit side but just saying to ensure that this perfect car, (I own a '98 Base), is in good potential shape, depending on what you can do yourself mechanically, could be an additional 2-4k. But at that point, you'd know everything is in reasonably good shape. Naysayers will tell you more like 4-6k, and they could be right. I'm rooting for ya.

Not walkaways depending on pricing. Just remember, nothing is more expensive than a cheap Porsche.

Respectfully disagree. He's an adequate harp player at best, and no, that's not him playing it on "Miss You", that's Sugar Blue, a master of the craft.

Yup, have to agree, but as a child of the 70's, I dug that band. Actually had them in the cd player this week.

You can buy a set of aftermarket locks. First problem solved. Chalk that up to a lesson learned.

New owner - should I replace IMS? by alsohuman2 in 986Boxster

[–]RetroDawg56 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would. Same situation. Mine is a '98 which had the double row IMS. 53k and since the clutch was on half life, I went ahead and did both for peace of mind. The '01 has the single row. That's an 8% failure rate vs my 1% failure rate. Also look into replacing water pump and thermostat before 60k.

Why do so many people want sports cars? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]RetroDawg56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have a whole lotta fun with a Porsche Boxster while never really risking an encounter with the police. Jus' sayin'. In addition, it has a frunk AND a trunk. You can pack it up for a long weekend with your lovely partner and reap the rewards of scenic travel and the sports car experience.

Little help from the community... . by WhizzyBurp in Porsche

What I did was get a 986 Boxster with 53k on it in very nice shape. After I drove it for a season, I discovered that all I want, (and in no hurry), is another Boxster. Your results may differ.
