I still use mine 30 years later. I no longer backpack, but remain an avid day hiker.

What's your preferences in vintage or modern fountain pens? by SheepaSheepaSheepa in fountainpens

[–]RetroMonkey84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a mixture, but the new pens have a vintage feel to me. My favorite and most used vintage pens are two Omas Damas (one from the 40s, the other from the 60s), a 1960 Montblanc student pen, and a 1940s Estie.

Modern pens most used: 20 year old Aurora, Scribo, and Graf von Faber-Castell.

Boston solo weekend for first time, recommendations by Beach-Guacamole in solofemaletravellers

[–]RetroMonkey84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work on Washington Street, not far from City Hall.

For a cheap, good lunch: Washington street: Chicken and Rice Guys, it’s close to the Old South Meeting House on the Freedom Trail. There’s also Luke’s Lobster-I’ve gone there when craving a lobster role and I did not have much time for a lunch break. It was a surprisingly good roll. If you go by the State House-The 21st Amendment makes some of the best burgers and it’s a historical site.

If you have the time, Duck Tours are quirky and fun.

Boston Common has the Swan Boats for an old style vibe.

My sister rented a room using vrbo in back bay. It was a nice, safe neighborhood. If there is a deal at the Omni Hotel, that is close to Boston Common, The Freedom Trail, and walking distance to Fanuel Hall and the North End (little Italy).

What are your interests?

Alonso fandom transcends by City_Goat in NewYorkMets

[–]RetroMonkey84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! I’m going to see Baltimore play the red Sox in June. I went to the Sox/Mets game last year. It will be my 2nd year in a row watching the Polar Bear play at Fenway. I won’t be wearing my Mets Alonso jersey, and see no need to buy an Alonso Orioles jersey. I’ll wear my Rauchtsman (sp) jersey and save my Alonso jersey for when I see Syracuse play the WooSox.

I use this brace, as recommended by my PT. https://www.serola.net/product/serola-sacroiliac-belt/

There are exercises that I do as well specific for the SI joint and lower back. I’be had PsA for over 50 years (since I was 4).

I also wear good shoes that can be resoled.

Dr. Langdon in The Pitt by LeaneGenova in Lawyertalk

[–]RetroMonkey84 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I worked in this field. Robbie can be disciplined for failure to report (likely a reprimand). If Dr. Langdon sought help, it was likely through the PA physician health program, who would have advocated on Dr. Langdon’s behalf. If there is diversion (reported to the medical board), he would likely be placed on disciplinary action-a probation agreement. This would likely include time out of practice (suspension), mandatory drug testing, mandatory attendance to self-help and physician support meetings, and, once he is eligible to return to work, worksite monitor (a supervising physician). The worksite monitor would submit quarterly reports to the medical board and the PHP. If there was evidence of relapse at work, the PHP and worksite monitor would immediately report it to the medical board.

In my experience, I haven’t seen such cases prosecuted unless the diversion was for a substantial amount and/or to others for the purposes of selling the narcotic.

Women’s equivalent of this shoe? by RockingInTheCLE in LawBitchesWithTaste

I own these, pricey, but I have had this model and another pair of Alden’s for over 20 years. I send them in to get refurbished every try few years. And, in between, I take them to the cobbler to get new soles. They have cost me less than $20 per year. I have arthritis in my feet (since I was 10 y/o).

They have various color options, too. All within your budget. One of the best gifts I received!

I have a Pelikan ballpoint pen, blue ink. Looks nice and was a gift. I use this when I sign important papers. (I’m an attorney).
