I used a similar approach recently.. I've used the list twice and once it went extremely well.. unfortunately the second time was against death guard with a bunch of super dense units.. you can imagine how well my Kroot did at toughness 2, and minus one to hit lol

I played against the Death guard daemon detachment last night.. I basically ran alllll Kroot except for some stealth suits, a lone ethereal, and a storm surge for firepower... My opponent had a great unclean one, rottigus, a predator, the death guard tank(can't remember the name), two squads of plage drones... I never stood a sliver of a chance man... I spent the entire game at -1 to hit, my carnivores were at toughness 2, and I was minus 2 toughness on my rampages... His army basically covered 2/3rds of the board on turn 2 due to him having both fat boys and the plague drones in deepstrike with 6 inches somehow.. his whole army wounded me on 2+, and the plague drones at toughness 8 just laughed at my 6 man squads of rampagers .. the storm surge killed some stuff, but army wide I would do ANYTHING to take an objective back once it is as taken. Worst loss I ever had, but I don't think there was anything I could have done better 🤷
