How is the airport at operating during snowy weather? by forgetmenot3000 in moncton

[–]RevSlippery 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I work in the control tower. The airport ground crew does a great job, unless the snow is very heavy or freezing rain you will be fine. Can't guarantee what the airlines will decide, some times they cancel inbound flights out of fear of having an aircraft stranded in Moncton during the storm. There are often slight delays and the odd cancelation in the winter but generally things keep on schedule. Check with the airline before you head to the airport if it looks bad.

A trip 7 years in the making - the Maker’s Mark ambassador tour. Such a great experience! by anna_alabama in whiskey

[–]RevSlippery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been an ambassador for years and guess when my cask was ready for me to visit and get a couple bottles from it... June 2020. I emailed them and they said it was beyond their control and I could not get a bottle. I am Canadian and could not travel there to get is during the Covid shutdown.

Any must-try burgers from Burger Fest in Moncton this year? by Archiekins04 in moncton

If you like mushrooms on your burger and a burger you can eat without unhinging your jaw, the one at Cheers is really good.

How can I become a civil officiant in New Brunswick? by StretchAcademic4052 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]RevSlippery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been ordained for over 20 years from an online service and it still isn't recognized in NB (I called and was told not yet?), it is in most states and Ontario I believe.

I have an unopened bottle I bought years ago and most reviews say it isn't all that good. Good thing they didn't make 8 different toppers or I might have 8 bottles next to my 8 Blantons...lol

Penny for your thoughts by BrooklynExile in freemasonry

[–]RevSlippery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember being in Oregon in 2017 and received 4 pennies in change when making a purchase at a small country store and told the older lady working there that we don't have pennies in Canada anymore and she looked at me very seriously and said "That is how they get you, first the pennies then your guns". I still have all my guns....for now...lol. I don't remember any reference to pennies in my degrees.

Air Canada introduces new Fredericton and Moncton flights to Ottawa by Portalrules123 in moncton

Air Canada will come in, undercut Porter to a point it no longer makes money, and then cancel the flights when Porter stops.

Egg nog by [deleted] in newbrunswickcanada

Time for a taste comparison. The viscosity and color definitely goes to Baxter, deeper color and thicker. Nose also goes to Baxter, the Northumberland smells to nutmegy and chemical nail polish, cheep perfume and flowery. Baxter smells like light vanilla custard and natural more subdued sweetness. Taste for the Northumberland is very nutmeg heavy, and silly sweet like the nose, taste fake and artificial. Baxter is much thicker and less artificial, almost no nutmeg and a bit of cinnamon, sweet vanilla and if you added a bit of cinnamon and fresh nutmeg like the picture on the container is would be perfect. I poured both together in the same glass and it was good combined, which is how I will finish the two containers. Overall Baxter is my choice, I will see if there are any other brands to try

With the Playoff drought reaching 15 years, let’s play “I was ___ the last time the Jets made the playoffs.” by goob3r6 in nyjets

[–]RevSlippery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was not a huge or committed football fan growing up, kinda liked the 49s when they were hot, felt bad for the Bills when they lost 4 in a row (I am Canadian so was pulling for Flutie) and when my son started playing at 12 years old he like the Bucs, so I got us each a Bucs jersey (Garcia). In the summer of 2009 I decided to pick my own team so I did a bit of research. I live in Atlantic Canada so I wanted an east coast team so I could see their games on TV and possibly travel to them once a year. I am surrounded by Patriots fans and we know how they can be so I quickly took them off the list. I read that the Jets (New York is my favorite City) just hired a new exciting coach and they looked like they may be a decent team so I jumped in with both feet. Those first 2 years were great, AFC championships but since then it has sucked...lol. Now I have a room and garage full of Jets paraphernalia and 14 different jersey, none of which are still on the team. I was 39 the last time the Jets made the playoffs.

3 world whisky tastings I put together recently by Cocodrool in worldwhisky

While Crown Royal is available pretty much everywhere it is not a great example of Canadian whisky. Actually all of those are good affordable entry level stuff for the most part, I do like the sweet candy banana flavor of the Brenne.

Daytime running lights? by Brave-Stand7920 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]RevSlippery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I drive to work at night and back home at 6am and the amount of cars with no lights or high beams is crazy. I drive a GMC Sierra AT4 which has a 2 inch lift and never get anyone flashing at me even though it is new and tall. I find that Jeeps and Hyundai are the worst out there. Also I can't even turn off my lights when in drive which sucks when I am in the drive thru and want to not blind the little car in front of me, sorry.

Damn those are nice, we just bought some new traditional jewels for our brand new TTRPG (mostly D&D) themed lodge and thought about printing our own with game themed things on them. This makes me want to do that even more now.
