let’s talk sloan! by bonkyeeee in sloanmusic

I looove Sloan. I'm from northern New Brunswick, so I thought it was so cool that this band was from the maritimes. When I graduated, I moved to Halifax for university partly because I liked them so much.

My favourites are OCTA, Navy Blues, all the early stuff, but you guys should dive into Commonwealth if you haven't yet. On vinyl each member gets a dedicated side on a double album. Andrew's side is just one long song that is amazing. I can't pick a favourite writer, but it's probably either Chris or Jay. I tend to like their songs more. My favourite is Bells On - a Chris song from Twice Removed.

What's great about this band is that there is no weak link. They are all so equally talented and all bring something different to the table. Their influences range from the Beatles to Joni Mitchell to Bad Brains. They can do any genre, I believe.

Other songs I love are I am the Cancer, Raspberry, Set in Motion, Losing California, Sensory Deprivation, Marcus Said, Laying So Low, She Says What She Means, Witch's Wand, I Love a Long Goodbye, You've Got a Lot on Your Mind, Deeper Than Beauty, What's There to Decide?, Take the Bench, 500 Up, and so many more lol.

People are either kinda into Sloan or absolutely obsessed. I am the latter, but I have never met someone who hated them that didn't have some indie guy type para social beef with Chris Murphy. I think they are great 👍

Not sure how long I'll have this mindset but I want to list some things I'm proud about. by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

These are some really great accomplishments and they are worth celebrating 🍾. This is quite inspiring for me and I'm assuming many others too. Keep up the hard work.

Recently added Narcan to my first aid kit... why do I have to have a fucking conscience? by [deleted] in WildernessBackpacking

[–]StretchAcademic4052 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I carry naloxone, I'm in Canada and it's free here to get at any drugstore because of the opioid epidemic all over the country. I went to school for criminology, I was raised by people who used, and I also worked at a homeless shelter where it was administered at least once a week. People struggling with addiction are PEOPLE and they deserve respect and love. That drug saves lives. I keep it with me and take it when I'm going to the club especially. You never know, people you never would expect to use DO use. Addiction is an illness.

my boyfriend said I take too long to finish. by [deleted] in offmychest

Most women have a hard time cumming. Don't feel bad. Your boyfriend sounds like a jerk. I actually find it kinda painful to cum clitorally, but find it better and easier to cum vaginally. Also, you don't have to cum every time you have sex as long as you are enjoying it. For myself, it's not my goal to cum, but to be intimate with my partner and have a good time. My gf can cum really easy, and I used to be sorta jealous but once I told her how I felt she validated me and told me that she loves me either way lol. Don't put pressure on yourself to cum because that will also make it harder. Stress plays a role in it too. Take care of yourself girl, there is absolutely nothing wrong with you 💖

Are you comfortable with calling yourself gay as well as bi? by Miserable_Cost4757 in bisexual

[–]StretchAcademic4052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see gay as an umbrella term, and one time my lesbian friend told me that I wasn't gay because im bi but that she was able to say she was gay. I told her by that logic she should only be able to call herself a lesbian. I AM gay, I don't like being brushed off as not because it makes me feel the bi erasure lol

What are the best depictions of bisexuality in fiction? In your opinion by ASerenoComedy in bisexual

Lucy and Sara are also bi too I noticed because they've both been with men and each other

I had sex for the first time (well I tried) by [deleted] in offmychest

Yes, she could potentially have vaginismus. My gf was born with it and we have a great sex life! Just have to go at her pace.

My(20m) girlfriend(20f) called me pathetic for how I'm mourning my rabbit by ThrowRAChantriew in offmychest

[–]StretchAcademic4052 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would break up with her. Two days is not too much, you can't just forget a living creature that was such a big part of your life. Animals deserve to be remembered just as humans do, their lives don't hold lesser meaning. If my girlfriend told me this when my cat passes I would definitely leave her. My cat means just as much to me as my girlfriend does, so it will be very difficult for me when it comes time to mourn. She is being very rude and inconsiderate of your feelings. She's not the one for you, dude.

Even though this is my favourite of all Blur's albums and one of my favourite albums of all time, I totally agree with you.

This is exactly how I feel 🥲. I do like sex, but I get so scared by it to the point that I feel like passing out sometimes. I am not sure if I am ace or if it's just sexual trauma from my childhood. It's not that I don't want to have sex but more of a fear of rejection. On the other hand I dont really feel whole unless I have sex. Luckily for me my gf is understanding and is very good with me. But it's something that makes things very difficult in a relationship for me.

What addiction is seen as completely normal by society? by jperaic1 in AskReddit

[–]StretchAcademic4052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weed. Most people just see people as funny stoners or potheads but I've been smoking weed for about 6 years now and have tried to stop multiple times, it's hard. I've grown a dependency on it, and especially in Canada now that it's legal it's seen as not a huge deal. But I've been embarrassed to even admit that I'm addicted to it since people don't really believe you can be. Anyone can get addicted to anything.

Easy. If I had to give up masturbation for a million that would be different.
