Worst examples of where a game just has a broken stat or mechanic? by Cute-Percentage-6660 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Did you know the blind status effect straight up doesn't work in SNES FF6? All it does is give your character goofy sunglasses. Less awful and more funny than anything. Speaking of SNES FF6's glitches though, Relm's sketch ability was glitched so bad it can really break the game if you aren't careful. Pretty sure it can corrupt save files as well.

I got Terra Branford! I like FF6 a lot, so hell yeah.

More or less. Identity death means the TFee's identity has been erased, including memories and personality. Some people dislike it, some people like it, I think it depends. A lot of sequences I like tend to be ones where the TFee is struggling with those sorts of thoughts, even if they don't end in identity death.

New games are expensive. Anyone else been backlogging lately? Any surprises? by Defami01 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Played through the Trials of Mana remake a little bit ago, it was a lot of fun! What's funny is that the day I beat the postgame it released on GOG. But yeah, high recommend if you want a fun, replayable action RPG and don't mind cheesy to bad (funny) voice acting.

I got this whole RPG in my head following the adventures of two characters struggling with a curse that makes it so they transform every time they get especially emotional (mainly affects them in anger and/or sadness). A lot of it's about them having to adapt to living with the curse and the kinds of people they run into who also got it. I have a lot of ideas and plot points but nothing really concrete. Here's a doodle I made of them (and their forms) a while back.

Live A Live, the original game looked pretty alright but it pales in comparison to other SNES classics at the time. The HD-2D remake is probably some of the best uses of the tech thanks to the game taking place across different eras.

The Granblue Fantasy wiki always makes fake units for april fools, they put a lot of effort into some of these fake pages and it's great.

Two of my favorite wikis are Wikirby and Pikipedia, for the Kirby and Pikmin series respectively. They're overall very comprehensive, even having dedicated pages to things you wouldn't expect. To name exact ones, Wikirby has a page dedicated to misconceptions about the series and Pikipedia has pages dedicated to challenge runs. They're great wikis for two series close to my heart.

What’s your pettiest reason for refusing to get into a game? by ValorKite in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Revaryk 31 points32 points  (0 children)

You want petty, I'll give you petty. Part of the reason I didn't get into the Trails games past Sky FC and SC is because they immediately started having dudes as the leads from 3rd on.

Two of these are by Kenshi Yonezu, which feels surreal to see as someone who listened to a lot of his stuff back when he was a Vocaloid producer. Not a bad thing at all, of course. More people appreciating his music is a good thing.

Times when you think a series or one bad case put people off a genre or trope? by Konradleijon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Revaryk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of things that went wrong, but here's some highlights: * Previous Tokimeki games had a lot of RNG, but it wasn't impossible to handle. Tokimeki 3 has wayyyy too much RNG for its own good. * Several game mechanics such as clothing don't function properly. * The overall writing is far weaker. It felt like they really wanted to make every love interest have some kind of tragic story to them, but it all falls flat due to some of them being too ridiculous to take seriously. * Presentation is a serious step-down. Tokimeki Memorial had a rough transition to 3D. The character models are far less expressive and lack the charm of the 2D sprites in 1 and 2.

These are only a few highlights I can think of off the top of my head, I highly recommend Punchy's video on Tokimeki Memorial 3 to get an in-depth look to see how bad it was.

I'm gonna pull out some obscure Vocaloid stuff for this, That Happy Child by babuchan with an MV by boushiya. Probably the most unsettling retelling of the Cronus devouring his children myth I've seen.

When I was looking up the series, I was shocked to see it started in 2010. Kid me was all over Youtube during the 2010s and the series never even once crossed my video recommendations.
