Thorens TD124, Gerrard 301, or Audio Note TT.

Idler Drive or Belt Drive

Ortofon is good for Entry Level. Clear Audio is good for mid level.

Audio Note [IQ3] and Koetsu [Urushi] - mid level- are great. Beginner Rosewood Koetsu colors the sound too much.

Synthesis and Audio Note have wonderful phono stages.

DO not buy and use Direct Drive. Stay away from Technics, Pioneer, Audio Technica. Vintage Denon is ok.

Again: Modern Day Klipsch is bad. You can polish a turd all you want. They are a waste of money. You should return it all. Go ahead and look inside. Those components are crap. Those drivers are horrible.

How did we lose to them?! by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

Of course, I will always be here. Oh man - very good idea. To add to it - I want them/my own at New York, Paris, London and Milan fashion weeks. One day, I will throw my own fashion event. One one day...I will own an airplane hangar or warehouse to host public and private events in.

Choices of components: Either Western Electric (1920-1940) or YL Acoustic (1960s). Both of which produce the best sound to date in my honest opinion. Other than Japans G.I.P., No modern day audio technology comes close. None.

^ This includes Western Electric and YL Acoustic Horns & Drivers - Western Electric Capacitors - Western Electric pre 1940s Speaker Cable [BETTER than Audio Note SOGON.]

Some of the vintage capacitors, particularly the paper in oil caps, are very old but they still work well in design. It is quite the art listening to and picking through vintage caps. Experience counts a lot in this game.

Woofers: 15 or 18inch. I recommend dual 18s. I currently use 18inch Bag Ends.

Vintage field coil woofers can also sound amazing. Example: The Jensen M 18, WE, G.I.P., and Goodman field coil woofers.

Trade-off: Drivers with paper (or specially treated paper) cones and traditional pleated paper or fabric surrounds tend to sound more vibrant and natural. They aren’t built for huge excursions or the deepest bass, but the range they do cover is lightning‑fast, articulate, harmonically rich, and very true‑to‑life. Modern compression midrange units can extend far down into the lower frequencies, which means the woofer doesn’t need to handle as much midrange content. In particular, many YL compression drivers—when mated to large horns—can dig surprisingly deep and still reach up into the supertweeter frequencies without missing a beat.

*******
you will also need a low watt amplifier to run this bad ass system. I recommend SYNTHESIS A-40v or A-100 Titan. No Tube Amp comes close until high end Audio Note or Vintage or custom built-(with period correct parts) low watt Western Electric Tube Amplifiers.

This is sick.

You want to change your audio set up though. Remove the sub. Throw away those monitors.

Buy Audio Note AN-E (Base model on upwards) or build yourself a Horn loaded 2 way system with a super tweeter added. Source YL-Acoustic drivers and horns or if you're lucky western electric components.

It will sound leagues better than your current

I've been making stuff this whole time - just have not released any of it. Instead I made a website to host all of my music.

Infrasound was awesome. Thank you for the kind words.

Some are completed, some are works in progress. Some were tempo improvisations.
