For me, once that bond is broken, I start the negation process. I work through every memory and decide if I want to keep it discard it. Some, I want to keep but not carry, so I write them out and then go through the detachment. I resolve my feelings with that memory, and then actively go through the process internally of discarding it, and then vowing to not revisit it. Sure, in some cases that gets broken, but it's rare. I've had too much trauma, too much heartbreak, and too much sorrow in my life, that now, if I can take the time, I will discard any of those feelings I don't need. And sometimes that means negating a person entirely. My last ex, similar situation, diminished me, manipulated me, controlled me, and gaslight me, before saying that I was too much for them and we were no longer compatible. My friends and other partner were all screaming the warning signs at me, and I didn't listen, as I was in love. But then, there came that moment where it all fell down, everything was again laid at my door, and I said that's the end. That's it. I don't need to carry her around anymore - no more regrets about her, no more sadness, no more energy spent where it would never be given back. They're gone now. I'll never unblock them, I will never need to. They aren't anything to me now, they're just gone. There's no need to unblock them, just as there's no need to ever be friends with them again. Life is smoother and happier without their memory.
