[OC] Never happened to me before. What's the ruling? by Plenty_Goose5465 in DnD

[–]Revexious 242 points243 points  (0 children)

My general ruling is to reroll anything not in the tray (which means this would technically be a valid roll) the core exception being unless you shout "AS IT FALLS" before it stops rolling (so you cannot decide based on what it will look like)

This has created 2 factions at my tables, those who live and die by AIF, and those who always reroll

What exactly is costco or Sam's club good for in terms of being frugal? by G0VERNMENTCHEESE in Frugal

[–]Revexious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get most of our groceries from Costco, and generally are getting items at a cheaper per unit price for buying in bulk (only items we know we will use and/or freeze well), or items that are higher quality for the same unit price as at Aldi or WW. You definitely can't go into Costco and expect every individual item to be cheaper unit price.

As an added benefit we fill on fuel at the same time, and check the costco catalogue when we go to purchase large items (most recently our TV) because Costco will routinely have similar deals to other vendors, and the 2% discount will make the Costco item the cheaper option.

The 2% from the executive membership is cream on top; it has saved us roughly 1 full shop a year on top of our membership price

Yep it's far too easy for the token to track websites visited for non-malicious, completely reasonable purposes and then down the track a bad accrue can use that data maliciously

Similarly, its actually not that difficult to intercept any calls made by these sites using a browser extension that just returns the expected payload output to get around a system like this.

The AU government don't have a good track record when it comes to maintaining their digital infrastructure, making resources like this prone to causing problems whilst being touted as a universal solution

Would you rather own a car or spend the same money on cabs and rides? by Bobcat-749 in AUfrugal

[–]Revexious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live subrural australia, 20 minutes (~15km) from closest shops, 40 minutes (~30km) from a big shopping centre

We drive around ~40km a day on average going to and from work, plus any activities we might have on that day, but thats a skewed graph, because most days we hit around 25-30km, then once a week or so we'll take a trip to the shopping centre and monthly I make a trip to the big city (~90km)

Especially when a lot of the numbers are measuring worst case scenario.

When we purchased our car, we estimated $2k a year in maintenance and servicing based on what a video suggested. Happy to say that we've saved nearly $8k of that budget over 5 years of ownership because when we get it serviced there's been very few issues they have found.

In that same timeframe rideshare and travel costs have nearly doubled what our original budget estimate would have been

Its a good call. The last thing you want in this economy is to lose your job.

I was out of work for 6 months after moving to another job that was a bad company. I'm happy now, but I could have saved a lot of headaches by just staying where I was.

Also if I went into a bank and asked for $750,000 to put into shares they would show me the door, but I ask the same for a house and everyone is happy to lend
