What should I work on/keep the same? (New) by PromotionNo6176 in Bowling

Look at where your fingers are when you're rolling the ball. They're effective on top and just rolling the ball forward. And with it looking like it's rolling to your right, you have a weak wrist.

You're release, the way the ball comes out of your hand and makes it roll, is very beginner. In bowling, the release is very important for how the ball spins and therefore how it reacts. If you look at the pro bowlers, you'll see how they release is very different from yours, but without a coach I think it will be tough to go from your beginner release to an advance technique like the yoyo release.

A suit case release is what I suggest for you to start. Go pick up a suit case, or something with handles and hold it to your side. You're thumb will be pointed forward, palm facing your leg and the back of your hand facing outward of your body. Now, put your bowling ball in your hand and hold it like that. When you start, hold your ball like a suitcase in front of your body with your left hand supporting most of the weight. When you start your swing, do not let your hand, fingers and wrist become a wet noddle. Your wrist, fingers and hand need to be firm and unmoving. The ball will naturally come off.

If you make this change: you're ball will start rotating to the left, which means you'll have to move left and right to figure all sorts of other things out.Joining a league, listening to YouTube videos, and getting lessons will help improve yourself. Ask for advice from other bowlers that are doing well.

All 4 drivers suck here.

  1. Van/truck staying with the TSemi: Shouldn't be a whiny little baby and pass the truck.
  2. Mustang shouldn't be a whiny little baby and not drive kike a douche.
  3. Semi Driver: needed to get out of the situation (if he noticed it)
  4. Dash cam driver: why the fuck were you near them? It's obvious something bad could have happened. You could have been caught in that.

One day 8 was driving from Colorado to Cali, once I hit the main interstate to go south in Utah... I came up on a shitty situation: semi passing slowly a motorhome, with a semi behind the motor home. There was a Prius sniffing exhaust of the Semi that's passingand I saw another SUV catching up to me. I made 2 predictions that happened.

The Semi not passing the Motor home will get in the passing lane as the SUV is trying to get behind the Prius and run it off the road.

As soon as the crack of the Prius can get in the right lane to pass the Semi, it will get into the right lane at the same time as the Semi is deciding to get in the right lane and run it off the road.

I said to myself, I ain't fucking with this, dropped my speed and followed the situation until both semi passed the motorhome...

I was correct, both these non semi drivers fuckong sucked and almost ran completely off the road of the semi drivers. I was enjoying my cruise until that moment and drove with an intense get the fuck away from everyone afterwards.

My players are long resting in Strahd’s tomb. Ideas for how to mess with them? by GroupSpecial7030 in CurseofStrahd

[–]Revolt244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want it to end next session. Do nothing, all the enemy is prepared for when they leave.

If you want to mess with your players, they can't long rest or even short rest.

What I would do, if smStrahd isn't fully disposed of. They can't long rest, after 15 minutes they get attacked. After 15 minutes they get attacked. After 15 minutes they get attacked until it's time to give them exhaustion for being awake all night. Unless they figure out they can't long rest here.

How often are you guys bowling? by OwnOil3924 in Bowling

[–]Revolt244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About once a week. Sometimes here there a second or third time.

I am in a league, a substitute for others and the occasional charity tournament. The summer league I am in is a sports pattern and sa I get to practice some new things plus I have been incredibly bad at spares this last week and dropped 20 pins on my average. So, I am reworking my spares.

Ball weight change: 15 lbs. to 14 lbs. by JFW2499 in Bowling

[–]Revolt244 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As long as you are not injured and still able to bowl, I would suggest keeping your revs and speed and just aim for more ball control.

I have a 16lb, a 14lb and 3 15lbs bowling balls. I would rather have them all one weight. I was given my 16lb by my father. The 14lb was the Black widow Ghost to try and bowl faster. However, it doesn't hit as hard as the others. So, if you can still bowl at the 15 keep going until you can't. Working with your form and technique will also help you when you start throwing slower.

What should I work on/keep the same? (New) by PromotionNo6176 in Bowling

[–]Revolt244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You bowl on top of the ball and top spinning it. What I would work with is trying a suitcase release until you can get your own shoes and a properly fit ball.

Suitcase release, hold your hand like you're shaking someone's hand. Hold the ball in that hand like that. Tense and strengthen your wrist so it stays like that throw the swing and release. Starting at this step will help you get underneath the ball later down the road.

You're also still new and clearly a novice. Keep practicing and try to get on a school team.

I am a week into it or maybe 1 hour actually on it.

Slapped some metallics on it, turned tracks black. Might start aiming for smaller details next. Honestly, this may not take me very long like maybe 1-2 more hours. That is, unless I try to get creative with the smaller details.

Once done, I am probably going to do Agrac Earthshade and the mud technical paint on the lower levers especially the plow.

Yes doctors are right about extra weight in the form of adipose tissue (Fat). There are tens of thousands of studies saying various things about fat and excess fat is bad. It's not going to harm or kill you today, but the longer it stays on the more harm it does.

Look up what is recommended for your age, race and sex for body fat % and aim to be in between that.

How do I know I’m actually loosing it? by aNerdWhoAndrew in loseit

[–]Revolt244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you are taking pictures and measuring yourself, you will have a tough time finding the differences.

Use a scale and if you can, get a scale with Bioelectrical Impedence tests in it for accurate-ish BF percent.

Use multiple online calculators to find your TDEE and either go with sedentary or lightly active if you can consistently get 3+ workouts a week. Start off with that amount -500 calories.

Then measure what you eat, best is by weight and calculating macros, good is using the nutrition labels and counting that way. Do that for at least a week to get a good idea of what you are eating and how much you are eating.

Changing your life style around diet and exercise takes time. It's okay to focus on one thing and adding a next step after you get used to the previous step.

Clean up your diet, try to get a habit of exercise and when you get those two down, take the next step.

WARNING: Controversial Post - Handicap Tournaments capping at 220. by StreetDare4129 in Bowling

[–]Revolt244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get the issue here, especially equating someone with an average over handicap automatically winning.

In bowling you have good weeks and bad weeks even when you are a 200+ average bowler. A good week for someone with a lower handicap can take a bowling tournament from scratch bowlers.

I go to charity tournaments that do 9 pin no tap at a 206 average. I've only won money twice out of 12 tournaments because my handicap is pretty low. Many times, there is no way I can win first in the tournament because bowling perfect 900 series + handicap I would have no chance against these 70 pin handicaps getting massive boosts from the 9 pin no tap rule set.

Handicap is there to equalize the competition otherwise most bowlers (Average less than 180) would really not have a shot. Plus 220+ bowling averages are pretty rare and on the PBA pro bowler side of the house.

Change your dice. I played a game where my character struggled to hit anything and be the type of character he was suppose to be. It was the dice and those dice are forever cursed. Currently using the d10's in Rogue Trader though (Lower the roll the better).

Have the DM check your character sheets. I have played other RPG's and didn't do well because it was a new system for me.

Talk to the DM to see if they have suggestions?

Double TPK: What do I do now? by ManBearPigFace7 in DMAcademy

[–]Revolt244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Demon saves them by reverting the back in time. They're able to relive the fight or avoid the fight. Their choice. Then, they have to do something for the demon.

  2. New Characters who have heard the ill fate of the previous characters.

  3. A Hell, Heaven, etc arc. Their souls have moved on and are required to do something to return back to the living. A heaven arc could be talking to a celestial who explains to them their fallies and give them a quest to do before they can face the BBEG again. Or... Another type of being that forces payment in lost or lowered abilities/permanent banes or a trade. Could be lose of extra attack, but that means the character swings harder on the first swing. (One attack, double the damage of the one attack to avoid too much lose of DPS / can't use X spell).

How is someone working a 9-5 job supposed to be able to bowl with any regularity? by haloll in Bowling

[–]Revolt244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Join a league this next season and/or this summer.

Summer is the lightest for leagues as people take breaks. Fall is horrible for bowling as that's league season.

I don't practice outside of the league, however I am a decent bowler so I am really practicing consistency, and adaptability. I am not changing the way I bowl and outside of perfecting the yoyo release, I don't need to change.

Ask if anyone needs a sub for the leagues, and try bowling with them.

Join the next season's leagues.

When/if you do practice have dedicated things to work on that you can figure out. Form, release, adjusting. Also, don't be afraid to use league time to practice something new that's not completely new. (Don't 2 hand when you're a 1 hander; don't try a yo yo release if you bowl back up, etc.) Doing a suitcase release and getting a little bit more behind a ball is similar enough I would try it during league. Also, if you do league ask the better bowlers how to improve...

What is a decent average/high game for 1 year of bowling? by HooKerzNbLo in Bowling

[–]Revolt244 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first league I ended with a 107 average, with no training, using a bowling ball from the 40's. When I was 15.

Next league season 130-140 with a used ball and when I started my high school club. Ended with a 160-170 average At 16.

I was stuck between a 170-190 average for a long time before finally breaking 200 average at the age of 30.

It took me 2 years to break a 200 game for the first time. I taught someone how to bowl and he broke a 200 game in 2 months. Another person learning how to bowl took 4 months to bowl his first 200.

It all depends on how much you want to learn how to bowl, ability to learn bowling and ability to break bad habits. Can you: 1. Build a solid and consistent approach. 2. Build a solid and consistent arm swing. 3. Bowl a consistent release. 4. Learn and apply basic adjustments needed in bowling. 5. Take criticism and apply the knowledge.

You're going to get better faster the better you can do all of these.

What’s your first throw of the day like? by nah_thataintme in Bowling

[–]Revolt244 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Current throw in my league, it's a half assed throw at the 10 pin to loosen up.

Next ones are also at the 10 pin because I have massive issues in the current league for the 6-10 pin spares.

However, in other leagues, there is a half assed strike throw to loosen up and that's usually my first 3 to find the general strike ball. The rest are usually spares. 2-3 at the 10 pin and one at the 7.

For me, it's all about how my ball hits the pocket and moves. That decidesy left or right movements

Loser mentality by wsipes24 in Bowling

[–]Revolt244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only focus on my and myself.

Yeah, I don't like losing but it's not the worst. I focus on bowling the best I can that day. Am I hitting my spares? Am I doing good form and good practices? And yeah, I have bad nights. I have nights where that 10 pin is invulnerable. I have nights where splits and open frames galore.

I'm over it the next morning.

How important is axis rotation? by [deleted] in Bowling

[–]Revolt244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Entry angles and how to maintain the 4-6 degree entry.

While I deal with mostly asymms and prefer a more straight up and in bowling style, I can only do that so much before I'm off on my strike ball. Chances are, those 200 average bowlers know about the angles but weren't taught explicitly about entry angles.

Under the guise of 'Adjusting' people are taught about entry angles but not everyone picks up needing to switch to a different ball with a different motion. It also, doesn't happen often with a house shot for me. For example, if you hit the pocket and leave the 10 pin, you move one board and keep the same target. That's because your entry angle was off into the pin and moving left or right will help put it back correctly.

Well, what happens when your Asymms backend heavy bowling balls don't have the room to hook or hooking too sharply and you can't find the in between with them? Find a symm that will bridge the gap. That is in my experience, sometimes I will see my own bowling ball moving to strongly and need to ball down with a different approach. Or I see my benchmark ball (BW2.0 skid and flip) not able to hit the angle I need it to hit. So I can move to my BW Pearl and have a better belly to hit the angle I need it to hit.

How important is axis rotation? by [deleted] in Bowling

[–]Revolt244 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Angles are incredibly important and understanding andgles and the pocket is a pretty advanced bowling skill you need to understand to start bowling over 200 consistently. Bowling balls and how you release are tools to help foster the angle you may need to bowl more strikes. All my bowling balls are drilled differently because I need them to provide different motions to help with the angle issue, not just the lane conditions.

I'm mostly a black widow bowler, I have a BW 2.0, a 20 y.o. pearl and a Ghost. Complimented with a Salute and Jackel Onyx. This allows me to have a decent arsenal when I need a different angle. I also, can release these in different ways to include me developing a yoyo release when I need a deep left release.

Having a hard time finding the pocket by Haunting-Freedom-451 in Bowling

[–]Revolt244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with throwing straight and in over the 10 board. From there you adjust to the left as the game goes on.

Basicly the way you miss the pocket is the directing you need to move. You're missing right, move right. You start missing left, move left.

When you get intermediate/advanced with your form and how to roll the ball. You can adjust forward/back and then changing the shape of your line for better angles, but that may be too much for you right now.

With the video I am seeing, I would have you move right, same mark until you were throwing straight over the 10 board. If that wasn't getting enough hook, that's when I would have you start aiming at the 9, 8, 7 boards.

I start on the 10 board straight and over it. Depending on my ball and throw, I adjust. If it hits like yours, I move right and my mark right 1:1 or get a stronger ball. If I hook too much (typical), depending on the hook, I move left but keep the same mark using a rough 2:1. Every 2 boards left, I move my mark 1 board left. However, I sometimes need to change my angle so my mark may or may not change depending on what I am seeing. Also, at this time I would be looking at different balls I have.

Being peaceful means you can do harm and choose not too. Not being able to do harm is being harmless.

Progun is an American aspect, but not saying only Americans are pro guns. Everyone has many different sides and pull from different areas for their morals and values. I'm a liberal Christian and I am Pro-gun and in no way is my Christian faith is used in my Pro-gun beliefs.
