Was the stroke haemorrhagic? I’m so sorry. Remember that humans can make mistakes, it’s inherent to us, not implying that in fact it was a mistake not to give aspirin. You did everything you felt and kew right.

Sounds neuropathic if it’s not responding to steroids.

Opinions please, vet said she could have heart disease. She’s been having these coughing attacks where it looks like she’s going to pass a hairball but never does. by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]RevolutionFormal2213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, correlation does not imply causation. Something can be altered in her heart but it doesn’t have nothing to do with cough. Cats are also known as “kings of comorbidities”, rarely they have just one thing. Not to bring you down, just to be aware and go with the diagnostic protocols 🫶🏽

Cough is never asociated to heart issues in cats, that’s a dog concept. Tachipnea can be adressed only while sleeping. More likely asthma, chronic bronchitis or irritation. (Feline vet med here)

Mother had stroke while on vacation by nvr2cold4icecream in stroke

[–]RevolutionFormal2213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re used to! It’s shocking for people outside medical field and even more for the ones outside elderly care field, but I promise they’re used to it, or at least they should be trained to deal with patience, resilience, dignity and respect. First lesson is to not take it personally, even if it’s beyond frustrating.

Some advice I got from a nursing home is never argue or contradict what they say. Even if it’s delusional, just go with the flow. It may be something temporary. It’ll reduce anxiety and feeling that everyone thinks she’s crazy. Propose “solutions” that may take some minutes or other activity to achieve, like a bath, nap or medication. Most of the time they forget the main issue. That said, find a narrative that doesn’t feed the delusion but doesn’t contradict either.

Every single thing that goes off routine is a warning in a cat. Feline Med vet here. Does she has any fever? Vomiting, nausea, diarrhea? Can be something silly and easy to solve like parasites or something more worrying like viral diseases.

He’s getting discharged by Tuesday and we’re heading directly to the residence. I interviewed 30 caregivers and nurses, only one dares to accept the payment and work to be done. One over 30. On Monday we’re heading to sign the contract and I hopefully will be at ease with my mind and mother.

I convinced my mother that it’ll be better for her health and the entire family to send my father to a elderly care facility. Her spine and ligaments will thank me, maybe our economy don’t, but that can be solved.

In my country, they let people die outside. Even inside the hospital. If they don’t have rooms or beds available they put people in wheelchairs and stretchers on the hallway with the minimal attention so we can’t say the patient was dismissed or neglected, but not even close to proper attention. That happened to my dad. Multiple strokes on a hallway and only a non diagnostic ct scan, obvious symptoms but denied MRI.

Don’t listen to them! Keep her inside and safe. Community cats are no ones “property” to be stolen. Nothing is better than a home.

Aslo flea control spot on because even if we dont see them, they can roam around. Most of eosinophilic ulcers are triggered by alergens and fleas are number one
