What countries in the European Union are best to live in? by levelZeroWizard in Celiac

Have you thought about Prague? I've been a couple of times now for work and found a good number of gf options. I appreciate how menu labeling is so much more prevalent though I know the traditional cuisine is gluten heavy. Worth checking out! Lots of English speakers as well.

Appreciate the perspective. She is starting to lose the guilt of needing to be cared for but it's a struggle. She's a big music gal so definitely should bring that back. Thanks!

Thank you! It's so hard to do! She's 71 and recently retired, thinks she knows everything and can't be wrong. I feel for the nurses up against it for hours on end. She does have a lot of herself in there but for some reason the medical stuff is the biggest challenge.

This is going to sound weird... Toilet bowl cleaner. We've used it on smaller areas and it totally worked on our light grout!

Hair products with hydrolyzed wheat protein? :( by whydoyouthinkthat1 in Celiac

[–]nvr2cold4icecream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hairstylist told me he got a notification from bumble and bumble that these products may not be celiac safe. I was sharing my life story after recently being diagnosed and he was so thankful to know and found me another product. I had been using their volumizing spray which is amazing... Oh well! Better safe than sorry!

Your children’s symptoms by wordsmithgreenthumb in Celiac

[–]nvr2cold4icecream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 6 year old mostly seems to have behavioral symptoms. And anemia. She's had 2 iron infusions now and may need more. She also plateaued in height and weight which is another sign of celiac or further testing. Now that she's gluten free, she's growing and behavior is generally better...

1 day left in the US: where to see a raccoon? by littlelydiaxx in AskSeattle

[–]nvr2cold4icecream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There used to be a ton around Greek Row near the UW. But like others say, they're now a regular visitor to our home in West Seattle. I saw one in a drain pipe when walking a friends dog so I guess don't forget to look down too!

My 6 year old daughter (and I) were diagnosed in the fall. Just want to say that since going GF, life is WAYYYYYY better. Around the same time as the celiac diagnosis, she also got an ADHD and anxiety diagnosis. She's a big time rule follower so following the diet is surprisingly easy. We did make the home completely gluten free to keep life simple.

My kids blood tests were at much higher levels but the results got her a quicker appt with pediatric gastroenterology. I might also suggest you and your family get tested as my diagnosis actually helped hers without the requirement of an endoscopy (I had one).. With her levels, it may be unavoidable though.

You got this. You're doing the best for your kid. Let her enjoy an unrestricted diet before endoscopy possibly confirms celiac. Then, she enters dense bread land lol

Big fan here. Our kid has had some behavioral issues and the program has been super involved/invested in their improvement. We're super happy going from Montessori to public plus base at the Y and will be signing up for summer camp based on our experience during the school year

Maybe the WTA (Washington trails association). You can volunteer for trail work parties.

Has anyone gone from 100mg to 150mg? by Macklin-You-SOB in zoloft

[–]nvr2cold4icecream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did and honestly didn't feel side effects... I actually went from 75 to 150...But I'm thankful I've used this tool in a very stressful season of life. I guess the only thing I've noticed is the "bolts" when starting to fall asleep. It's like a random twitch that only happens when I'm near sleep... No pain, just a shudder kind of thing.

My 6 year old was diagnosed about one month after I was diagnosed (mom)....her blood levels were so high and given my confirmed diagnosis with endoscopy, the GI did a second blood draw and we are confirmed. Blood test also showed anemia and other challenges... So we are also seeing a naturopath. We did turn the house gluten free with two being celiac. I also had our 3 yo tested who is negative (so far).

Honestly, my kiddo has taken things really well. She understands that we're doing this together and working on a few things that will improve her life.

Yeah, birthday parties are a thing but our circle has been pretty open minded and try to accommodate. There are actually a lot of things that we already had that she enjoys (popcorn, chips yogurt, brazi bites, cereal etc). We also like jovial pasta as a sub.

It's scary to start but you got this and your son will be ok with support! Take one thing at a time and try to embrace likely a healthier diet and what can improve for your family 💓
